Parents Table Talk – Feeling Powerless in a Pandemic: Get Your Power Back

Gods Way Christian Baptist Church Wellness and Empowerment Communities Ministries Healthy Minds Project goal educates the African American community on poverty and trauma, focusing on the rural Williamson County and Central Texas areas. The project is funded in part by the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health.  The church is located in Taylor, Texas, and the Senior Pastor is Rev. Dr. B. R. Reese.

In some form, we are all suffering during this pandemic. The impact of the COVID19 in the pandemic has traumatized our families socially, financially, mentally, physically, and emotionally.

Our topics target discussion about COVID19, Social Injustices, and Mental Health & Trauma.

Caregivers are grappling with a hefty mental load during the pandemic. These burdens are related to job loss, homeschooling, loss of social supports, mental health, and isolation.

This forum includes Nicole Traphan and Carlita Fielder discuss their parenting challenges and hopes during a pandemic.
