This episode is a recording from our Common Ground Debate on identity politics which took place at the Mission Theater in Portland, OR on May 24, 2018. This event featured Bret Weinstein and Heather Heying—two professors recently pushed out of Evergreen State College for their stance against the new type of 'Day of Absence' at the school—in conversation with Robin Johnson and Michael Parkhurst who work for regional and national non-profit organizations in the field of social justice.

Common Ground Debates are an opportunity to explore important issues of our day with a focus on understanding common ground and solutions. Conversations on nuanced societal topics are often limited to ideological camps and geared for an analogous audience, which does little to bring us together into a broader understanding. As a country, we need to work together to improve communication between people with different ideologies and different visions of America, because our core values and needs overlap more than they differ.
