Stock Market speculation is at an all time high. But when you combine this with the long-term buy-and-hold strategy, you can really see the long-term effects of continued economic crashes. So what's the solution?
Over the past few decades, its become fashionable to invest heavily in the stock market. From retirement plans to multinational industries, wall street is seeing activity like never before. But is it time to question just how investment in the stock market actually benefits us?
One of the most commonly prescribed remedies to financial stress is the concept of being debt free.
But should we also ask the question: is it more important to be debt free or have more money?
As civil unrest continues to sweep the nation, the recent stimulus actions by the Fed have gone relatively unnoticed. However, I believe that they will have the most lasting impact on our finances. Insurance is one of the most powerful products in the financial industry yet everywhere it is undersold or misunderstood.
I love Nashville. From the wide open sidewalks with plenty of walking room to the local restaurants and parks, it truly is one of my favorite cities. But any place is only as good as the people. I was not here for the storms in 2010, but I suppose certainly here for the surprise tornado in 2020. And you know what I saw? I saw the greatest outpouring of passion care and support for one another that I've ever seen. Putnam County, which was hit the hardest by the storm actually started to run out of room for all of the supplies that were being donated. There were lines of people waiting to donate blood and all over social media people were offering things to help rebuild. Local companies donated supplies and the general atmosphere was one of compassion.
Today Kevin interviews Don Merlo.

Everything markets today. From Bob Igar to the history of the Fed and the market downturn, we cover how the market could come back; and how it could tank even further. With a focus on the United Kingdom's FTSE 100, we also look at the global markets.
In researching articles for yesterday's Kevin prendiville show, going through something like I came across one of the best articles that I've read in Forbes and a very long time. Penned by Michael Lewitt, a piece titled “The Harsh Realities Of Corporate America's Decade-Long Leveraged Buyout” outlines the over leverage of American corporations and what Michael calls the cannibalization of the commercial sector.
Today's show is a huge financial episode, combining politics, money and global markets.
With a heavy focus on a great succession of articles from Forbes, Kevin looks at:
The Moves of Berkshire Hathaway
Opportunity Cost and Compound interest
Leveraging
The social impact of a dysfunctional economy
Stocks are through the floor today, and no one could have predicted it. It’s the nature of the market of course, but try telling that to those who have invested their retirement into the market. There are many angles with which we could approach this, both socially, emotionally, and logically. But for now, we'll stick with the logic. 1000 points or more snot only a huge loss for the day, but in the future it will truly cost the average American much more than they expect. This is because of a principle known as opportunity cost.
With uncertainty in China, Joe Biden bombing at the primaries and Banks changing to the SOFR system, what does this mean for personal finances? And don't forget about Nashville soccer and the MLS
Just how likely is a high taxation environment? With the Trump economy, it seems unlikely, but are there other factors that cold affect the future?
We don’t typically cover HR trends on this site, but I thought this one was important to bring to your attention, because there’s a small point I want to make about it. According to a Harris Poll survey, Millennials and gen Z workers actually care about their work and its meaning.
“Roughly three-quarters of Millennial (ages 24-39) employees (76 percent) and almost two-thirds of Gen Z (ages 18-23) employees (64 percent) work in knowledge-based jobs — including professional, managerial, or administrative work.”
On January 29th, Nigel Farage held his final press conference as a United Kingdom representative to the European Union and had this to say in response to a question about the future finances above the European Union and the United Kingdom. He had this to say:
“It’s as if you’d think that the European Union was still the global superpower, and the seat of all known knowledge in the universe. The truth is the European Union is only about 15% of the global GDP, and next year it will be 14%. and by 2030 they’ll be lucky if they’re at 7%.”
Hail to the Chiefs! A great win for the state of Missouri, does Kansas get to claim this one too? On a heavier note, we'll also discuss the current state of the fed and personal finance. This is the Kevin Prendiville show. Sometimes political. Always correct.
In an age where everyone is an activist, what does a real one look like?
And furthermore, activism in the finance industry has gone unnoticed by many inside and out of the industry itself. But here's how it works.

Topics may range from finance to the culture war and everything in between.
What relates the Boston Tea Party to today? The answer may seem simple on paper, but if we connect the dots, the answer gets more and more complex.

For the past 30 years, the Left has dominated higher education. It's time we examine every aspect of this great crime...this is the Crime of the Century.
As we wrap up this series on jobs and education, I'd like to re-address the point that we explored at the start. Funny enough, it made me think of the old Alice Cooper song, Lost in America, where this episode gets it's name. I believe we all feel a little lost and it only gets greater without direction-obviously. So today, we'll explore consumerism and ourselves and maybe, the crime of the century.
What can degrees actually get you? Well, many of them qualify you to teach, and that's about it. It creates a problem of indoctrination and with it, the Crime of the Century.
The war that shaped the world is hardly taught today but it is so important to understanding the nature of being an American. The US is a nation of many people, but one ethos. If we are to preserve what is right, we must understand our own beginnings, which started well before 1776.
Still on the topic of vocation, I believe it's important to enjoy your work, but not to the detriment of your productivity. Yet most Americans don't enjoy their work and it could be part of the crime of the century.
It may seem as though we are advocating for the young generation to avoid schooling for good. This is not the case, however. There is a time and place, like everything and after our discussion, I hope to give you a greater perspective. With it, we can combat the Crime of the Century.
Welcome to the crime of the century podcast, where we expose higher education as the scam that it is, I am Kevin Prendiville and I believe that because of what we are teaching our children we are losing an entire generation. I'm going to leave out the last part of the intro here because this is truly where we are losing our students and sacrificing their lives. It starts with how they pay for school and how it will wreak their earning potential in life. It IS the crime of the century.
Today will be the last overtly Christian theocratic topic, and the fact that is lacking from today's academic discourse. now so many young people, college students, often feel as though they are behind the eight ball and lost before they even graduate. They've been taught that nothing is truly good and that every structure is an attempt to oppress a certain group of people. They come into the greatest years of their life already with the perspective that is nihilistic and frankly depressing. And this is a great part of the crime of the century.
Welcome to the crime of the century podcast we expose higher education is a scam that is. I am Kevin Prendiville and I believe because of what we're teaching our students were losing entire generation. Today as always will be diving headfirst into controversial subjects undaunted by political correctness.
Something that we can dance around on this show has been morality or lack thereof in both the student body but more importantly in the professorship of today's modern college campus. Exactly how do we analyze history and what makes us who we are if we don't have any sort of guidelines when it comes to morality. The lack of rules has led us to the Crime of the Century.
America was founded by the Manga Carta in 1215, and cultivated in the English dynasty known as the Tudor Dynasty. From King Henry 8th to Queen Elizabeth I, they all contributed to making the greatest county in the history of the World.

Welcome to the crime of the century podcast we expose higher education is a scam that is. I am Kevin Prendiville and I believe because of what we're teaching our students were losing entire generation. Today's always will be diving headfirst into controversial subjects undaunted by political correctness. Now, we live in a society today in which everything must be delivered in five minutes or less. And the thing that hits our emotional heartstrings first gains our support. This has created a crisis of identity for our youth and for our country today will explore exactly why that is the crime of the century.

The greatness of the enlightened Christian is under attack. But by whom? The universities, and it is truly the Crime of the Century.

Continuing our series on the social fallout by removing God from our public life, and here we are. If we cannot turn the ship around before the next economic correction, we may lose America.
After the march for life controversy last week, I thought it would be critical to view Identity politics from this perspective; were do they start? From the French Revolution to the college professorship today, It may just be part of the crime of the century, and that is a problem.
Aside from the Government Shutdown, we are facing perhaps the greatest crisis in the history of the world. Because of what we're are taught, we may doom the world to tyranny. But it doesn't have t be that way, let's explore the Crime of the Century (available here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1732013306?pf_rd_p=c2945051-950f-485c-b4df-15aac5223b10&pf_rd_r=RG53NAGZDDEBV3BFEYNS)
In the First Series of Connecting the Dots, we discuss English History and its connection to America. The indisputable evidence that the US is closer to the UK than we've ever realized starts in 1215. Before the Black Death, before the Reformation, there was Americana. Freedom starts on the shores of Dover.
We are in the middle of an identity crisis. Because of this, I believe that we all feel lost. The answer may lie in where we get our information from.

What is a man, nowadays? Is it the Starbucks dude you see whining about how his $12 latte isn't ethically sourced? What about the 40 year old man in a dress using the women's bathroom? The one with the audacity to say it's his right to do so?! This is a serious problem in our country, and it starts in our academic institutions. Today we will discover why this is part of The Crime of the Century.
As a kid Christmas was my favorite holiday. When I was real small I loved the idea of gifts just showing up the day after my birthday. As I grew up I realized that the importance of Christmas was family and the celebration of togetherness during the dark winter. That is under attack by political correctness and the universities it's a major example of the Crime of the Century.
Cable and cable news is great….for 1994. I joke, but I saw a segment from Tucker Carlson the other night about a study on the standards at collages and higher educational schools. I had not seen this study when I wrote the book, but it's unfortunately part of the Crime of the Century.
Thanksgiving is such a unique holiday. The food, the family and Football. It's no wonder the left hates it. They really do, so today, its history, post modernism, and the Crime of the Century.
I hate Communists. It no secret, but what worries me is how benign the rest of our political colleagues think they are. With debt and taxes as substantial as they are, it's easy to see how this relates to the Crime of the Century.
When did it become ok to hate those on the otherside? I'm talking about the attack on Tucker Carlson. It comes back to another topic that has crossed my mind about the real threat out there. It's the abject failure that we have perpetuated as a country to allow these communists to rise in our academic institutions and ruin what was once a great nation. All this and more on the Crime of the Century.
Now, I love my country, it's people, the fact that our fore fathers were forgers of a new type of Nation. We are able to live as we please. For some reason the left hates this fact. We'll explore why this, and why this is part of the Crime of the Century.
So I learned in college that "orange man bad!" Thanks for spending 100,000 mom and dad. What I'm referring to here is the popular image of a crudely drawn character from the internet that repeats all of the lefts main talking points. He's even banned in Europe, but it's the hive mind think that truly describes the Crime of the Century.
So Lizzy Warren took a DNA test last week and was proven to have lied about 1023/1024 of her heritage. Even the Cherokees themselves have released a statement condemning her. It would be rather comical if it didn't describe part of the crime of the century.
We've forgotten about the Trump Russia collusion story. Probably because there's no story there. But let me tell you about a real collusion story, and that's between the universities and the Government. Both want to steal your money and this is a major part of the Crime of the Century.
Last week, while as a guest for sports talk show host Colin Cowherd, Doug Gotlieb made an interesting statement. "I guess we [the media] are just anti-establishment. Were pro-player anti-congress and anti-president." While I don't have an issue with what Doug said, he has the right to his opinion, he does bring up a few reasons why our education system is part of the Crime of the Century.
What's taken the news cycle over in the past few days has been nothing short of a complete manifestation of what goes on in academic circles year after year. It's the rape culture that so many feminists speak out against. But the consequences have been dire in both Hollywood and in the academic discussions of late. Now that the mainstream Democratic Party has taken hold of these principals, we will explore what makes this the crime of the century.
Just a few days ago, one of the biggest conservative stars, Steven Crowder confronted a lying professor on campus. It helped to uncover one of the greatest crimes of the century.
Hungry is a lovely country in Europe. After its conquest by the Ottomans in the 16th century, and Reconquista from Vienna in the following centuries, a period of Fascism and Communism took the country until the late 20th century. Recently the Hungarian Fascist party has gained substantial ground in the counties capital and the cycle will undoubtedly continue. In the meantime, the government has recently banned Gender Studies from its university halls because it is not economically sound or productive. As true as that statement is, I think it's important to understand how the humanities have changed the landscape of American Culture and contributed to the Crime of the Century.
When did it become ok to hate the US? I'm talking Nike ad here. You know I've been thinking about another topic that has crossed my mind about the real conspiracies out there. Not the Alex Jones- George Soros runs the world kind. But the abject failure that we have perpetuated as a country to allow these communists to rise in our academic institutions and ruin what was once Eden. All this and more on the Crime of the Century.
I've said it once, and a thousand times, nobody knows there history anymore. To fight back, we must understand our enemy's mindset and how to combat it. It is up to us to expand on our own philosophical viewpoints as well to deconstruct the great crime of the century.
Religion and spirituality in general is ingrained in our minds from the start. As far back as the Neanderthals, who had their own graves sites, humanity has always been marked by spirituality. In history, governments who attempted to diminish God always try to take his place. Perhaps the Bible ain't such a bad thing, and maybe ideology is.
Speaking of political correctness, it's started in the universities, and now it's banned Alex Jones. Rather than just reiterate what has already been said about Jones, I think it's time we look at what caused this banning and why the left looks upon it favorably.
Nobody knows there history anymore. In a world where everyone is Hitler, and the historically ignorant rule the institutions, which use half-truths to push a Marxist agenda, it is our duty to fight back. It is up to us to expand on our philosophical and historical viewpoints to deconstruct the great crime of the century.
Now, I want a subject that took me twenty years to realize. It's the simple fact that rights come from God... not the Government and not man. The ONLY reason I figured this out was though my own study of our founding fathers, something that has been taken away in our public schools, and in most of our collages… Above all else, what we are going to discuss today, IS why this is not only the great crime of our century, but in fact a shift in thought that my never be corrected
I believe that because of what we're being taught, we're losing an entire generation...Wow! 20 episodes, can you believe we're here already? 20 different ways of elaborating on just the title "crime of the century". 20 times we've lifted the lid on modern education, exposing it as the scam that it is. In the face of political correctness, we've begun to understand the problems we face. Today I think we should look back at all that we've gone over so far to give you an idea of why this is the crime of the century.
The death of America starts in the academic systems...Today we're talking history again. I know, everybody slept through their history courses, but listen up! History has no mercy on sleepwalkers, and today we're going to go from 1750 up to 1990, to exactly how we got into this situation even it when it seems that we have conquered all of our enemies. Our academic problems run deep in this country, the divide us, and if we're not careful, they'll conquer us. This is the Crime of the Century.
Famous YouTube star speaks out against video games and we question the future of the US. Then the question of the new democrats and socialism's rise is something that needs addressing. Lastly the looming crisis in the middle east looms large.
I believe their are a number of factors that impact our start in life...A while back I explained the concept of debt and why most people feel broke. And it isn't helped by the government monopoly on student loans. Today we will explore why this is part of the Crime of the Century.
A feeling of listlessness has swept across the United States. From Massachusetts to California, Adults and young people are are unsure footing. Could this be related to the rise of promiscuity and immorality?
I believe that ideas that are marketed well have lasting effects...I was thrown out of class because I refused to call Donald Trump a fascist. This is my own experience with Identity politics, but it goes further than that. Nowadays, students are taught lies such as: the second amendment only applies to a "well-regulated" militia. The fact that this inaccuracy is taught in class means that our students are leaning that those who defend the 2nd amendment for what it is, are seen as "the enemy". Because that's what identity politics does. It paints a picture of anyone that doesn't think like you as stupid or worse, evil. The crux of the issue is that academic ideas may seem to be out of touch, but they have very real consequences. This is the crime of the century.
I believe liberal professors are killing America by pushing for open borders...We are under attack. Those who love this country and what it stands for are shunned by the major academics. It's now become the standard to hate our founding fathers and their principals in major universities. If we continue to allow this kind of false narrative to stay in our collages, we won't have a county soon. This is unquestionably, the crime of the century.
I believe the democrats hate the American political system...Just a while back I traveled down to Florida on vacation. While on the plane I had the luxury of sitting next to a former military man and current Tampa Bay police officer. We had a very pleasant talk and I realized afterword how sad it is that the left hates both our standing military and our police officers. They want them dead. So I decided to look into why this is, so today, we will explore what makes this part of the crime of the century.
I believe most professors are quitters and gave up on their dreams. Now they want you to give up too...
I believe we need a stronger solution to our communist problem within higher education.
What is a man, nowadays? Is it the Starbucks dude you see whining about how his $12 latte isn't ethically sourced? What about the 40 year old man in a dress using the women's bathroom? The one with the audacity to say it's his right to do so! This is a serious problem in our country, and it starts in our academic institutions. Today we will discover why this is part of The Crime of the Century.
I believe that student loans are a scam. I believe they serve to make only politicians and the Government richer. This is why I believe it.
