On this show we have conversations about life and parenting with some of the most interesting people we can find.
In this episode, I share the story of my daughter's cancer diagnosis - neuroblastoma. It's been a long emotional, bumpy road, but we're getting through it with the love and support of our family and friends. If you're facing a cancer diagnosis for your child, know that you are not alone.
Jaidyn Johnson is an Occupational Therapist, specializing in helping young children reach milestones. So much of a child's development starts with "tummy time" where a child learns how to move their head, then push up with their hands and arms, which leads to rolling over and eventually sitting up and crawling. Without the fundamental development skills, children can fall behind on "milestones" that could hinder learning and social skills in the future. Beav and Jaidyn also discuss the importance of a father to children, based on multiple studies as well as Jaidyn's personal experience as she grew up not knowing her own dad.

Our friend John Malecki was in town on vacation this week so we had to get him back in the studio for another podcast. If you missed the first episode with John, we get into his NFL career and how he transitioned to woodworking. You can see that here. Today Beav digs more into John's Woodshop, and his youtube channel, trying to understand how they make huge amounts of content (on a weekly basis), and still have time to be a father to his now 17-month-old baby girl. They guys also get into the future of their businesses. What that means for them and how they set goals as they go. What's the end goal? Should you make one? Hear how John compares running a business to being in the NFL. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear Podcast.
This week on the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast, JD from NUNA Baby is in the studio. If you don't know, NUNA is a premium car seat, stroller, and baby gear company. With nearly a decade of experience at NUNA, JD gives us some great insights on what to consider when looking for a baby stroller system. You should be asking yourself a lot more questions than just "is it cute" or "does my friend like theirs". Everyone's lifestyle and situation is different, and strollers are expensive, so picking the right one is important. The same thing goes for car seats. Beav and JD get into the history of car seats and debunk a few myths and marketing tactics that will give you a much clearer picture of what to look for when picking a car seat for the first time. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
This week on the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast, Beav and Alex sit down for what feels like the first time in a year. Beav has some serious issues he needs to get off his chest. We're sure all parents can agree with what he has to say.
We learn more about Alex’s family history and it all starts to make sense if you know Alex. Being a super nerd is literally in his blood. It’s actually really interesting and we will get more info on this, especially since there is a new book that has been written about it.
Then the guys get into the all-so-popular topic of the Metaverse and NFTs and what that even means. But the real questions arise when they start to think about what this means for their kids, and what the future looks like for them in this soon-to-be digital world.

This week we are talking sneaker culture with Cory Pennington from Penny Kix, a local sneaker shop. Cory is a retired Marine, police officer, and teacher. Since his childhood, he has had an attraction to sneakers. K mart jeans and shirts, no problem, but he had to have some good shoes.
As a Marine, Cory was a TOW Gunner, (anti-tank missile man) but since they weren’t many tanks to shoot at in the middle east, he spent the rest of his career as a machine gunner. After 8 years, Cory left and became a police officer to fill the gap as he transitioned back into civilian life. As a fill-in for the school resource officer, the principal approached him with the opportunity to become a teacher in the criminal justice program. It didn’t take long for Cory to make that switch since he knew being a cop was only temporary.
During his time as a teacher, Cory was buying and selling sneakers on the side for some extra cash. As his house became filled with hundreds of pairs of shoes, he made the jump and opened a retail location, giving birth to ‘Penny Kix’. Now with a second location and retiring from teaching, Cory is all in on his own business. Take a dive into the often misunderstood world of sneakers and sneaker culture on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
use code TBG10 for 10% off your first purchase at https://ammonyc.com (good thru 2021) This week on the podcast is our good friend, Larry Kosilla of AMMO NYC. You may be asking yourself, what is AMMO NYC? If you ever searched YouTube to see how to clean or detail your car, chances are you came across one of Larry’s videos. He was the first to show how-tos and share high-end car detailing knowledge on the, (at the time), a new platform that is YouTube. With over 20 years of experience, Larry is internationally known as THE detailing master. His work ranges from the rarest of the rare supercar collections to forgotten treasures left behind in another century in his “barn find” series. His videos cover every level of cleaning cars, so there is something to be learned for anyone. From how to properly wash your car, to paint correction and clear bra on a 1 of 1 Ferrari hypercar. AMMO NYC is much more than a YouTube channel. Larry got his start in car cleaning by owning a car wash, where he made contacts with the manufactures of the products he used every day in order to improve them. Fast forward a few years, and Larry was in the factory at midnight mixing his own formulas and bottling them under his own name. AMMO NYC gained a lot of traction and as they say, the rest is history. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Pittsburgh native, John Malecki grew up wanting one thing; to play in the NFL for the Steelers. After a star high school, and college football career, John reached his goal and played for the Steelers on the active roster for about 2 years in 2012.
With his NFL dreams fulfilled, Malecki soon realized he wasn't prepared for the "real word" and life after professional football. He found a passion for wood working while doing some DIY house projects, and ran with that. Since 2016 John has had his own YouTube channel sharing his love for building and learning new skills.
Fast forward to present, a now new Father, he and his wife Sara are raising their daughter and navigating with no play book for parenting. John just hopes that his daughter turns out like her mother, and looks up to big strong dad.

We have some very special guests, Dave Reggina and Mike Parelli from the No Snooze Podcast came down to Hilton Head to join us. If you haven’t heard of the No Snooze podcast, Mike and Dave talk about life, business, motivation, and now as new dads, parenting from their perspective. Beav also did an episode of their podcast, so go check that our HERE.
If you value time, or are looking for ways to have more time (really, who isn’t) This is an episode to listen too. Time management is an incredible asset to posses. It's much easier to talk about than it is to actually execute on. Beav gives some great insight on how his time management has changed and evolved, especially now with a 3rd baby girl.
The guys get deep on starting, and running different businesses, looking forward even after job promotions or awards, and how and why they keep moving forward. Much of this is from how they were parented and the experiences they had growing up, even in very different situations, but the end results become the same. Hard work and motivation can’t always be taught, but it can be passed down.

Baby Hannah’s first appearance on the podcast, and she sat through it like a champ! Brandy and Beav discuss the first 5 weeks with a newborn, adapting schedules, figuring out what Hannah likes and especially what she doesn’t like, sound machines, swaddles, night lights, pacifiers, you name it….
Also, they get into how the older sisters are reacting to the new baby, and how that has changed Beav and Brandy’s day to day interactions with all 3. The older girls are definitely Daddy’s Girls. Do you think Hannah will follow the trend? Beav has a pretty solid opinion.
Does a baby with more hair cause mom heart burn? Could be an old wives tale, but hear what Brandy has to say now that Hannah was born with a thick set of locks.
p.s. is "love" a tennis term??
All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Beav and Brandy had baby #3, Hannah May 27th. Alex is back to talk to Beav about the hospital delivery experience, and what it’s like 7 years later since the last kid. Why they did labor induction, what its like for a Dad in a delivery room, and how you as a dad SHOULD act. Beav has some strong opinions on that last one.
In the first week, challenges have already risen as Beav and Brandy take their newborn to the hospital daily for check ups and bilirubin level checks. This go-around has already been different, especially on the home front with two girls at home. The sibling jealousy is real…
Alex give us an update on his oldest son that just had his cast taken off from breaking his arm. Speaking of arms, there is a really sensitive subject for Alex with clothing and sleeves. You don’t want to miss that!
All of this and a ton more on this weeks episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
This week we have a special guest, the world famous YouTuber, Alex Mazhukhin, better known as Mr. Build It. Alex is a father of 2 boys and an 11 month old baby girl. About 7 years ago, Alex’s wife was wanting some upgrades to their first house, but as a young couple they couldn’t afford to have things built for them. Enter the beginning of Mr. Build it, where Alex was doing home improvement projects in blog form and on Pinterest. With a small following building, the Mr. Built It YouTube channel was created and as they say, the rest is history. Balancing content creation full time and 3 kids has been the trickiest job Alex has come across yet. Hear how he goes from Dad in the mornings, to YouTube star mid day, back into Dad mode when he has to pick up the kids and gets them dinner and to bed in the evenings. All of this and a ton more on this weeks episode of The Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Welp, we knew this day was going to come, but it’s hard to believe the time has already come. Brandy is 36 weeks pregnant, and won’t be joining us again. At least not until several weeks after the baby is born.
Get the scoop on what the last 36 weeks have been like and how number 3 is vastly different than her first 2 pregnancies. From first trimester struggles, the second trimester bliss, and now the third trimester misery. What was the biggest difference? And what do the final weeks have to bring?
All of this and more on this weeks episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
On the number one rated podcast (according to us) detective Beav is on the case after he finds a piece of paper with certain bad works written on it on the kitchen floor. Alex has his own battles at home with “potty” words as they try to potty train the boys in-between Sweet Home Alabama jam sessions…..yeah.
On a more serious note, a little one has a trip to the ER Saturday night after an accident jumping off the couch. A lot of great points as the guys talk thru the mindset of dealing with an emergency at night with a child.
We end on a high note with some pretty interesting stories from Beav’s camping trip with 9 people and a 7 month pregnant wife. Raccoon invasions, bored kids, and car alarms made for a trip they won’t soon forget.
All of this and a ton more on the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Alex is back … and he has a parenting failure to confess. Beav gets a concerning message from a teacher and may be drowning his concerns in tacos. Or maybe that’s just his normal amount of taco consumption. Meanwhile, Alex is still dealing with The Great Bathroom Flood of 2021. And because we can’t go a single episode without some sort of poop story, there’s one of those too. And with Brandy’s due date almost here (early June!) Beav is shopping for all the baby gear and reminiscing about when Cameron and Kendall were babies. Also discussed in this episode:
With Siri calling out direction, will kids even know how to read a map when they go up?
Does anybody memorize phone numbers anymore?
Is there a better way to teach our kids that emphasizes real-world application?

Wind em up and watch em go. Alex and Beav sit down and have A LOT to say. Alex catches us up to date on the situation at his house. (It’s a mess.) But shout out to his childhood chemistry class that definitely saved his life while he was mixing cleaning chemicals to kill some mold. Meanwhile, Beav is planning a family camping trip with his wife Brandy who is 7+ months pregnant.
There’s talk of turd nuggets, peeing in the bathtub, a dog on the loose and a crawling baby. You never know what’s gonna come out when these two sit down, and today is no different. Only one place to hear it all!

Milk (seriously)
Green bananas
Wet dog smell
And so much more

Alex is having a time of it. Beav is bracing for life as parent to a newborn and a pre-teen. This 💩is getting real. Literally.
Alex digs out his septic tanks and rips up brand new flooring (again) while trying to figure out why he’s allergic to everything, and Beav celebrates the fact his oldest can now cook herself breakfast and wonders if that means she can raise the baby.
Also in this podcast:
There is a very catchy song about poop

Matt Overton has spent most of his professional life with his head between his legs. That’s kind of the job description for an NFL long snapper.
But an 8-year NFL career, including a 2013 Pro Bowl selection, didn’t come easy. From failing to make a highly competitive youth football team at just 7 years old to his first NFL training camp experience lasting all of 3 days, Matt has fought for this every step of the way. Now newly married (to Breanna, a former Colts cheerleader he swears was the one chasing him) with his first child on the way, he talks with Beav about looking forward to fatherhood, what’s next in his career, and the type of legacy he wants to leave.

Remember that cooler your family had stashed somewhere in the garage? It survived countless road trips, camping adventures, Little League games, and fishing excursions. And it did not look pretty. You might even say it looked SHITI.
Self-described “below average outdoorsman” Trevor Zacny first noticed the luxury cooler trend in 2016. Struck by the lack of character in these new brands, Trevor wanted to celebrate cheap AF coolers that have a story and family history behind them. And so SHITI coolers was born. This might be the most personal story we’ve ever shared. We’ve never shied away from the realities of life, but Alex never thought he would be telling everyone about this on the podcast. After Alex shares about his recent experience, he and Beav re-examine the importance of Tactical Baby Gear’s® roots, and how 2020 has shown that our mission is more important than ever. This year especially, a little empathy (and maybe some Valium), will go a long way.

With an absent, alcoholic father, Trovon was left to fend for himself. Although he was a nationally ranked football player receiving offers from Division 1 schools across the nation, Trovon was washing his laundry in the field house. Brandy stops by the office to discuss the first trimester, a discussion that quickly derails as Beav rapidly loses focus. There’s talk of island life, building a boat and sailing, childhood memories, and somehow we get to the point where Beav professes his desire to be the new Joe Exotic while Brandy reiterates her desire for pet donkeys. They then debate who is harder to shop for at Christmas. Eventually, there is some talk about the first trimester, what’s different this time around, and how the kids have to be reminded that pregnancy is not, in fact, easy.

Alex gives us some life updates with the newest baby to his tribe. A few more gray hairs, a sore back, and lack of sleep is only half of it. Father, Actor, Entrepreneur, and all around awesome guy, Jeremiah Bitsui is finally on the podcast. Many of you may know him as Victor from Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, but in this episode we dive into who Jeremiah is and how he came to be apart of the two biggest TV Shows of our time.
Growing up in and around Albuquerque, NM, much of Jeremiah’s teenage life reflects that of his character Victor, even being shot just before his 18th birthday. This gave Jeremiah the motivation to get back in the the film and TV life from his younger years. Moving out to LA at 19, his path takes shape as he worked acting and training as a film director, while running a night club promotion company.
Fast forward a few years and a random, nondescript audition for a new show about meth in Albuquerque would turn into the roll of a lifetime for two long lasting series.

Craig Sawyer, known as the Sawman, is a retired US Marine, as well as Navy Seal Sniper. During his deployments and subsequent duty with the Department of State, Sawyer learned of the massive human trafficking problems happening right here on US Soil.
You don’t have to be a parent to be upset by the fact that children are being trafficked by pedophiles in every town and city in the USA. This $38 billion dollar industry of human trafficking goes widely unknown and unseen, due to political and other powerful connections. Craig aims to blow the cover of these operations, with his organization Vets for Child Rescue (V4CR) that he formed after his own daughter fell victim to a serial rapist.
His newly released documentary, Contraland, serves as a public showing of just how vast and rampant the problem really is. We urge you to watch the film and educate yourself on the signs and warnings of trafficking and baiting. V4CR and Craig has many tools that you as parents can use to help keep your family and communities safe.

Beav and Alex discuss some COVID life stuggles, and Alex reveal kid 4's gender and name.
Our first guest since all of the COVID-19 shut down restriction are being lifted, and its non other than Brady Foster. Its a fantastic episode, and we are super excited to be back in the podcast studio!
Brady, better known by his Instagram as @K9GunnerTactical is a dog trainer by profession. While in the USMC, Brady and his unit used working dogs to find explosives and people inside of buildings. After the Marine Corps, Brady went on to become a personal executive protection agent for a wealthy family. During his 4 year stint, he acquired a new German Shepherd puppy, named Gunner. (hints, K9 Gunner)
Brady personally trained Gunner to become a drug detection K9. Utilizing Gunners skills to help rehab facilities search out contraband brought in by patients and guests. It was during this time that Brady knew he wanted to pursue dog training at a professional level.

We are all trying not to loose our minds among the COVID-19 quarantines. With kids home from school, millions of us out of work, and everyone's movements restricted, it’s easy to see why we are slipping into madness.
Just like a virus spreading, negativity can infect everyone in your house. If you make a mind shift change, and look at the current situation like a challenge from a friend, you can create a competitive and positive environment. You can become the best teacher in the world for YOUR kids. No one can teach your kids as well as you can. That is the mindset you need to have.
If you are not a parent, or have kids old enough to look after themselves most of the day, you can get projects done that you always put off because you “don't have time”… That excuse is no longer valid. Set micro goals, and chip away at it. Clean the fridge out, put away things in the garage, fix the lawn mower, etc… Before you know it, the day is over and things are getting done, and you didn’t just sit on the couch, eat an entire bag of Taco flavor Doritos and watch Tiger King all day…not that we would know from personal experience. …

We are LIVE! When we recorded this episode, we jumped on Instagram Live with Vaughn, AKA, @TheManSpot to bring you guys along for the ride. We recap the Mint 400 race and tell some stories of the week long event in Vegas with Travis and Will.
Vaughn, along with navigators Tim and Mark, were able to bring the Green TBG race Jeep to a second place finish in class, while team mates John and Nate Williams brought home the Gold with a first place finish in the blue TBG Jeep.
The Mint 400 is known as “The Great American Desert Race”. With nearly 300 trucks and motorcycles resisted every year to race 400 miles in the Nevada desert, as well as a downtown Las Vegas festival, is lives up to that name. You can get up close and personal with every race vehicle as the roll through Fremont Street, squeezing past vendor and sponsor tents to get to tech inspection. February seems to be spring time now here in the south, which means pollen(aka yellow death) covers everything and people start sneezing. Alex trying to be proactive and start regular doses of anti allergy medicine, caused and allergic reaction… How do you get an allergy to anti allergy medicine??? Alex tries to explain…you will want to hear this.
Beav recaps the King of the Hammers trip, which started off pretty bad at the airport. Travis started feeling sick just before boarding the flight, and the call was made for him to stay behind and Beav to make the trip solo. Good thing, because it turns out Travis had the Flu and was about to infect everyone, not to mention being stuck in the desert for a week sick.
Thankfully the rest of the trip out there was fairly successful, a little bit of drama with the rented RV, but that was the worst of it. Vaughn ( @THEMANSPOT) along with John and Nate of @ImpulseOffRoad had good starts to the race and were able to get much further before mechanical failures took them out of the race.
Coming back home, Beav’s favorite airline, American Airlines, once again delayed his flight leaving Vegas, which caused him to miss his connection in Dallas, and causing him to be a day late getting back home to his kids and wife. He is beyond over being stuck in airports every time he flies out West and tries to come back home.
We also get a pregnancy update on kid 4 from Alex.

This week, Alex has been left on his own with the 3 boys as his wife has been out of town. If you heard Ep. 033, you know Alex has been working on a new night time potty training trick. By night two, the struggle had fully set in during a 3am tantrum after one of the twins wet the bed, which woke up the other boy that triggered a melt down over a difference in pajamas.
Beav has been working on trying to change his mindset around involving the girls in more technical tasks like working on cars, doing dishes, helping around the house or even trying to get them to keep their shoes on. The amount of time it takes to teach your kids these tasks that would normally take 5 min to just “do” is a valuable lesson for the little ones, and hopefully translates into skill sets that they can build on and use in the real world. You just have to accept that you are going to spend a lot longer on something so that they can learn new things.
Speaking of mindset, the guys discuss instilling values into the kids that let them know its OK for them to not go along with whatever their friends are doing. “Monkey see, monkey do” applies to just to friends, but also parents, because your kids will mimic you. Getting them to know its OK for them to think for them selves and not to worry about what everyone else is doing starts with you as the parent and example.
All of this and more in Episode 34 of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Alex has a new trick he has been using to get his boys potty trained through out the night. It involves them being asleep and a pitcher of warm water… You probably have never heard this one before, but it's a pretty good dad hack.
Beav is back from Vegas, and gives us his take on the new and old that was at SHOT this year. 3 years of being told the PSA MP5 is coming out “in a few months” and all of the same AR15 “new” parts tend to blend in, but when a few products actually stand out, like Polymer80’s new frames and some other custom pistol options, it’s actually pretty exciting. But the main reason Beav takes the week to be in Vegas is to meet up with friends, industry partners and TBG customers that come up and stop him at the show. He always appreciates everyone that he runs into, so if you happen to see him out and about, be sure to say hey.
The next big event TBG will be at is the King of Hammers off road race in Johnson Valley, CA Feb 3-9. We will be out there with Vaughn @TheManSpot and two other 4500 Class Jeeps built by Impulse Off Road. If you are at Hammer Town be sure to hit us up with a DM on Instagram (@tacticalbabygear) and stop by to see the new livery on the TBG race Jeeps.

If you thought Christmas with 3 kids was bad enough, just wait till you hear why Alex had to wrangle his trio as a solo dad during the entire Christmas and New Years break. Alex’s New Year’s resolution( really more of a goal) may be including trying to be more patient, especially once kid number 4 arrives mid year.
Speaking of goals, from last weeks episode with Pulseology, the topic of micro goals came up as a strategy to build momentum. Achieving goals in steps can make the whole process much more motivating as you build up and up, instead of feeling like the end goal is still so far away. Beav is taking this approach into 2020 with goals and tasks as it relates to Tactical Baby Gear® projects. Too many things on a to-do list can mean nothing gets done.
Beav finally got to break in the new deck space in his back yard with a New Year Eve shindig. The whole TBG crew, (except for Alex), and a few friends brought their kids over for food and drinks. Drinks include Tequila, which Brandy helped her self to, making the party way more entertaining. Brandy and the kids were asleep by 10:30, so unfortunately the entertainment didn’t last long.
Have you ever felt guilty about wanting to send you kids to school or day care to get them out of the house? Don’t, it’s normal, and really really necessary to have time for your self. Hear the guys talk about their experiences past, present and future as their kids get older, and new born is on the way.
All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Welcome to Season 2 of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast! In this episode, Beav sits down with the owners of Pulseology, a local fitness club and team of personal trainers. Being that it's New Years, and everyone is bound and determined to “get in the gym and be healthier” We thought it would be a good idea to give you guys some insights to set your self up for success and being able to stick to those New Years resolutions.
Statistically, something like 95% of new gym members stop going after just 3 months. John, JP and Scott, all with military backgrounds, give us some tips on ways you can set goals and keep motivation up that will help you not just stay on your new health path, but actually enjoy it. (Yeah, its actually possible to enjoy the gym, we know…it’s weird.)
So much of a fitness journey, (what ever that may mean to you), is almost completely mental. Changing your mindset, and having good mental health is a huge part of being able to continue and not give into the excuses that become easier and easier to succumb to. As a former Army recon platoon leader, JP is very big on mental health, and listening to his take on goals will change the way you jump into something new.
We encourage you to listen to this all the way through, because there is great info through out the episode.

As 2019 comes to a close, Beav and Alex do some reflecting over the past 12 months as well as discuss Christmas traditions.
Hint: don’t watch or listen to this one with the kids, we won’t be responsible for ruining Christmas.
We won’t give too much away in this write up, but Elf on the Shelf may have an unfortunate accident in the near future… Maybe he has some dirt on the Clintons, we don’t know for sure.
As one of the busiest years for Tactical Baby Gear®, hiring several people full time, building a new media office, as well as developing a new system of products (available mid 2020)and both guys have had a ton on their personal agendas.
From renovating his house, designing the new office, dealing with daughters getting older, going to the gym 3 times a week, Beav had a busy year outside of the office. His big goal for 2020 is to have less “busy work” and concentrate on being creative and growing TBG.
Alex on the other hand, has the busiest year of his life ahead of him, since kid number 4 will be here mid year. We can only hope and pray he keeps his sanity, because no one else around here can decipher his spread sheets and actually run the company.
We have had some incredible guests on the podcast already, from TheManSpot, WifeSpot, Gary V, Aaron, Dakota and many more. We look forward to an even better season 2 for 2020.
All of this, and of course a ton more, on the last episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.

If you saw (or listened) to the podcast episode with The Wife Spot, you will notice that Alex wasn’t in that one. While we were out in Utah, he got a frantic phone call from his wife while we were at breakfast. Before his food was even brought to the table, he has Beav drive him to the airport to get home just a few hours later.
The reason for the phone call comes out in this episode, and we promise you will want to hear this! Emotional highs and lows are intertwined through this story, but it ends on the best of feels.
On instagram stories (@TacticalBabyGear), you may have seen Beav talking about an incident involving a kid at the end of the Christmas parade here in Bluffton. Unfortunately, the child didn’t survive his injuries after falling off the float in the school parking lot.
This really hits home with Beav since his kids attend the same school and his daughter is the same age as the kid that was killed over the weekend. Real Dad emotions come out as the realization that one of their kids could just as easily been in that situation, and how fast things like this can happen.
Kids make you soft, period! Remember that there are problems, and there are inconveniences, and most things really aren’t such a big deal. Now go give your kids a hug.

Beav and Alex are in the podcast studio for the last time before it all gets broken down. Fortunately, its because the new studio is ready to move into. But thats not what we are talking about today, Bev and Alex are both dealing with some real DAD LIFE situations.
Beav’s oldest daughter has become the master manipulator of the family and will put on full scale productions claiming she doesn’t feel good, just to be able to sleep in mom and dad’s room. Beav has officially nominated her for an Academy Award for her acting skills. It has become a real problem, since they now don’t know when she is actually sick, or just faking it for attention.
On the other side of the table, Alex is dealing with 3 year olds that are just learning how to use the power of manipulation to get water before bed, or run around the house when they should be in their room. Alex is able to nip this behavior in the butt for the moment by being extra tough since the boys are so young and they aren’t at the point where they will remember it.
Hear all of this and a ton more real life Dad talk on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
While Beav and Alex were in Salt Lake City, they caught up with Jordan Jones, aka Relentless Momma. Jordan is a mom of 3, with fresh twin boys that are just 8 months old and her oldest son that is now 9. In between changing diapers, and running to after school programs, Jordan is a fitness coach and consultant as well as a content creator.
She truly is a RelentlessMomma as she raises 3 kids and works constantly as well as keeping herself in shape after having twins. We even did a work out video with Jordan you can see HERE
Jordan’s real passion is fishing. She works with several companies doing social media marketing in the fly fishing and outdoors industry, which has allowed her to use her passion to make a second income and support her family. She is working hard to involve her kids in her passion by bringing them with her, even the 8 month old twins, (thanks to an awesome TBG Tactical Baby Carrier ;) )

Mom-trepreneurs Betsy and Angie are long-time jogging buddies turned business partners and problem solvers. Their story starts a few years after the birth of Betsy’s twin boys, who had recently transitioned to bunk beds. Now a mom to three small children, reality hit Betsy hard as she realized that trying to get kids to make their beds, especially the top bunk, was impossible. Fighting to keep her sanity, Betsy bought some zippers, and with the help of her own mom, created the prototype that would change bedding forever. She quickly enlisted the help of Angie, who saw the potential and need for a product like this as a mom herself. The Beddys Bedding brand was formed and has quickly exploded over the last several years. With huge support from their husbands, Betsy and Angie have been able to overcome many of the obstacles that come with creating a new product by going all in while the dads took care of the kids. If you have ever wanted to create a product or start a business, you will absolutely learn something from this episode. Going from stay-at-home parent to business owner isn’t easy or quick, but the end result can be life changing. All of this and a ton more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
This episode starts off a little sad with the news that Beav had to say goodbye to one of the family dogs of 16 years. Moxie was a there for it all, Beav’s first apartment, his first house, bringing both kids home from the hospital, the start of Tactical Baby Gear, and so much more. But the worst part? Trying to explain to two little girls what it means to take a sick dog to the vet, and not bring her back home. How do you explain that? How do you deal with the simple minds of a child while still making sure they know that death (and life) is a big deal? Hear how Beav did it, and let us know if you have any tips on this down in the comments.
Meanwhile, Alex is trying to figure out how to start letting his kids help in the kitchen, and take on more responsibility. His OCD and complex about a clean house has been a struggle for him to overcome. Alex feels its an important life lesson for his kids to be able to help and contribute around the house, even though that may mean there is a layer of flour dusted across the kitchen.
Doing and failing is the best way to learn most things, as both Beav and Alex have started to give their kids freedom to make mistakes and allow them to “figure it out” on their own. This is a great way to build trust, in the sense that when Dad says something, he is actually right, and if dad says he is going to do something, you better believe he will do it. Doing what you said you were going to do is especially important when it comes to discipline and rewards. You can hear a lot more on this in Episode 022 with Dakota Meyer.
All of this and some more great conversation on this Episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Aaron Hale is without a doubt one of the most inspirational people we have ever hosted on the podcast. To give you some perspective, consider that Aaron served in the Navy but felt like he needed to contribute more; he chose to move over to the Army specifically to become an Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) tech, those soldiers we know as the bomb squad guys.
While deployed in Afghanistan, Aaron was clearing an IED when a second device went off under his feet, kicking him into the air, causing instant blindness, blowing his ear drums, and slicing him with shrapnel, all without a bomb suit on! His first thought? “Man, so that's what being blown up feels like…”
Even just this brief insight into Aaron’s mindset lets us begin to understand how this man has overcome unfathomable circumstances. “No” is not a word in Aaron’s vocabulary. Despite being blind and almost completely deaf, Aaron has remained positive and ready to take on new challenges including kayaking, mountain climbing, hunting, and marathon running.
Listening to Aaron’s hilarious takes on being a new dad to twins, a blind chef, and life in general make us realize what we may consider problems are more like minor inconveniences. We dare you to listen to Aaron in between his jokes and not have your own outlook on life challenged.

Yup, she’s here, The Wife Spot is actually here! Ok technically we came to her, but the fact remains, she’s on the podcast and you better buckle up for this one! Its hard to put into words just who this woman is. Besides a mom of 3, and wife to The Man Spot, Kaitlyn is a stay at home mom that has leveraged her social media audience to be able to work from her cell phone between nap times and changing diapers. Her non-stop attitude created a full second income for the family, as well as providing Kaitlyn the outlet she requires to keep her sanity.
You will hear some serious Mom-Talk that is very rarely talked about in society. Kaitlyn’s unfiltered, unapologetic view on life, being a mom, and wife to the one and only ManSpot will have you either speechless and offended, or trying not to die from laughing so hard (like Beav was)
All of this, and much, much more, on the funniest episode yet of the Tactical Baby Gear® podcast. So sit back, strap in, and enjoy the show.
The one and only, Dakota Meyer is here! Dakota is a retired Marine Corps scout sniper, Father, entrepreneur and author, among many other things. Dakota was deployed to Afghanistan, as part of a training team that supported the Afghan local Military, fighting the Taliban forces in the Kunar Province area. On Sept 8, 2009 his life would change forever when the Battle of Ganjgal fired off. Dakota’s selfless actions during that day would go into history as he was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Obama in 2011. Dakota goes really deep into this subject on the Jocko Podcast, episode 115 as well as the Joe Roegan Podcast #1363
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6LbwCKJ0lo
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PlDUYhZvU9s
As a father of 2 daughters, Dakota tries to instill into his children what his Father and family placed into him, a sense of work ethic, right and wrong, and “living a life worth living”. Meyer credits his Dad’s parenting style for most of his success. His father didn’t just tell Dakota how to live to be a good person, he showed him by doing those actions himself everyday. Dakota believes whole heartedly that its a Dads job to show his sons what a man is supposed to be, and to show what his Daughters should expect from a man.
There are so many amazing conversations in this podcast at it goes into what it means to be a Father, training for parenting, getting comfortable being uncomfortable, discipline styles, and so much more. Dakota has an amazing perspective on so many areas in life, that can only be had after being in the extreme situations he has been through.
Sit back, relax and enjoy Episode 022 of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
In this episode, we sit down with Gary Vaynerchuk who is an entrepreneur, speaker, author, internet personality, and father of 2.
CEO of Vayner Media a $200million dollar company with apx. 1000 employee world wide. He is also known to have transformed his family wine business from a $3 million dollar company to a $60 million dollar empire within a few years.
Gary tells Beav and Alex about his childhood, not knowing much about his father until age 14, and drops an atomic bomb regarding stay-at-home-dads.
All of this and a ton of great conversation and stories on this week's episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
The first wave of back to school sickness has crashed down at Alex’s house. Sick, fussy kids, and a sick Alex made Dad Life a little more difficult this week. The youngest has learned how to throw a tantrum, which he used while being “abandoned” as he was dropped off at daycare in the morning. One of the Twins repeatedly used his tantrums to refuse to get dressed and go potty all morning, which of course, the other brothers quickly followed suit.
Beav and Alex answer some of your #ASKTBG questions, like “What to expect beside the sleepless nights as a new dad”, “Recommendations for Car Seats and Strollers”, “How long to wait to announce a new pregnancy” and a whole lot more.
If you have any questions you would like for us to answer, send us an email to media@TacticalBabyGear.com , #askTBG on twitter, or message us on Instagram and Facebook at @TacticalBabyGear

Embracing the suck is just a part of being a parent.
We are dealing with a lot of suck this week! Alex is working on a new morning routine for his 3 boys. The twins have started to get up early and destroy their room, waking up their little brother in the process, to add to the madness before the sun even comes up. Beav makes sure to let him know that is always going to happen, as his oldest daughter will still do the same thing to her room. It now becomes a situation of picking your battles, and saving your sanity.
The thought that you are failing as a parent is easy to come by when you start to compare your kids development and skill sets to other kids in the neighborhood. Whether it's removing training wheels, swimming on their own, or running a production line, does it really matter where your kids stacks up? You may have to put off work to make sure your offspring is getting the training they need to grow and learn new things.
Beav vents a little bit about some disrespectful kids that were over at his house this summer demanding drinks and making a mess of bathrooms. He makes a great point that teaching your kids to be respectful and polite at other peoples houses is extremely important. It doesn’t just benefit Mom and Dad when the kids act like responsible little people, it can make a huge impression on how other people see your children.
All of this and a ton of great conversation and stories on this weeks episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
After a week of being evacuated for Hurricane Dorian, Beav and Alex are back in the office and they are jacked! We are pretty sure they both drank at least 4 cups of coffee each before the podcast.
The damage from this hurricane in the Bahamas was absolutely devastating. It his as a Cat 5 and stalled for days over the islands. Given we are on the coast, at the boarder of South Carolina and Georgia, the path of this hurricane was headed right for the TBG office. Once the hurricane started moving again, and it was certain the path is headed up the coast, the families were loaded up, the office was secured and the mandatory evacuations began. Beav and Travis headed to our brothers in Columbia, while Alex and his crew went to west North Carolina in the Ashville area.
Luckily the hurricane stayed off the coast just enough to not destroy Hilton Head, and the Tactical Baby Gear offices. Monday was a great break from the break as getting back to work is what Beav and Alex do best. All play and no work makes Beav a grumpy boy.
And speaking of working, we have some great stuff lined up for the podcast in the next couple of weeks. Amazing guests, traveling, and some cool videos will be coming out till the end of the year. More on this later this week as we will want to get some questions from you guys for these big guests. Make sure you pay attention on Instagram and Facebook for more info.
All of this and more on this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast
This week on the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast, Beav sits down with his personal trainer, John Duberley (@run.johnny.run) John is a Navy veteran, and a low key bad ass. In the Navy, John had to keep fit to ensure he could complete missions and duties while out to sea. He developed a passion for fitness, not only for him self, but his team mates and fellow sailors. That passion has continued into John’s civilian career. He is now a personal trainer under the PULSEology flag, as well as a professional runner, representing local and national brands like LuluLemom, SlayRx and Salty Britches. Specializing in 5k and 10k races, John has become accustomed to winning races, like the NineLine Foundation annual 5k/10k, multiple times.
After a few years of patiently waiting on Beav to make the mental shift to get back into the gym, John has helped Beav for the past 60 days to get rid of his dadbod and break the routine of sitting at a desk and then eating Moes and Oreos for dinner.
The biggest drive for Beav on his fitness journey was the need to take care of him self so that he could then take care of his family and business.
Hear Johns philosophy on getting people started with his training regiment, not setting them up for failure, and some basic nutrition advice that can get you pointed in the right direction. The most basic work out of pushups, situps and squats can be enough to get you started and motivated, especially if you have friends or a group to go with.
Hear all of this and a ton more on this episode of The Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
They are gone! The kids are finally back at school, and Beav’s wife couldn’t be happier. They survived a long summer at home, but just barely. Alex has another week before he can pass his 3 boys off at day care to give his wife a break from chaos.
Do you realize how much Day care costs?!?! Its amazing how it feels when the day care bills end and the kids are off to actual school. But on the other hand, the reality of the youngest going to a real school for the first time, and seeing them walk off through the school halls with a backpack on can be a hard thing to come to grips with, especially for Mom.
Speaking of hard things to deal with, the guys discuss todays kids growing up in a soft society. The fact is, the young population has much less to harden them, whether its from not having 40lbs of text books to carry, or participation trophies, to giving credit to kids that haven’t earned it. Reality is, easy times don’t make hard people. How will that effect the future? Entitlement is at an all time high, and work ethic seems to be on a downfall.
How do we balance supporting our kids athletic and scholastic goals, while still letting them lose and fail to learn those lessons on their own? We want our offspring to do well, and to continue to doing what makes them happy. Leaving a gymnastics competition crying can be discouraging, but is it better than giving them false hope and expectations on what it means to compete and follow through with tasks?
Some great conversation and child hood stories in this episode of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast, so sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
Booth is here! Booth is the owner of Armordillo Concealment, a holster company that was formed in his garage around 2011, and continues to be an industry leader with in the gun community. He is also a full time Firefighter in Florida, as well as a father of 5. Yes, 5! If you want to talk about a juggling act, this is one of the best.
Booth is in town as part of a 2 week vacation and road trip with his family of 7. They jammed into a minivan, packed luggage like a Tetris level, and hit the road. With ages ranging from 10 to 1 years old, it has been an interesting adventure. From keeping all 5 kids entertained, to using gas station restroom with multiple kids at a time, and having to change diapers on 3 of them at one time. There is nothing easy about a trip out with all of them.
As the child of a single, teenage mother, Booth learned some hard lessons at an early age. He spent a lot of time with his Grandmother, who put him to work in the kitchen as soon as he was able to reach the stove. This created the passion for cooking that Booth still pursues everyday, not only for his family, but also for the Fire station when he is on duty 24 hours at a time.
The guys wrap up this episode with a great discussion on how much technology they expose their kids to. Is screen time a bad thing, and at what ages did they allow iPads and smart phones to be used. What does the future hold? Are they limiting their kids by making them play outside in a technology driven world? Find out at the end to hear what they have to say.

Ep. 014 - BEAR!
The summer is coming to an end, and the final trip of the season is happening for Beav and Alex at the same time. Alex is headed to North Carolina for a wedding and family trip, and Beav is headed to Tennessee, both for a quick three day weekend trip. Beav’s older brother, Matt,(from episode 010) is also in the mountains with his family of 6, and sent a video of a large black bear hanging out on the porch of their rental house. An unsettling sight when you have 4 kids running around and playing all day. As it would turn out, Beav had an encounter with a bear in Tennessee when it attacked the trash can in front of the cabin they were staying at. You should hear more about this in an up coming episode. If you follow along on instagram, you probably saw the pictures and video in Stories. (@tacticalbabygear)
All of the travel previously and coming up brought in the discussion of how traveling with the kids has changed over the years. Going from pack and plays to suit cases, and how Beav and Alex pack a Daypack Vs their wive’s multiple suitcases for a weekend trip. There are some great tips in here about traveling with kids and getting them to calm down as you drive down the road.
#ASKTBG is still coming as its own series. We are working on nailing down the look at format, so until then we answered some questions in here, ranging from starting a business and being a new parent, to what to look for in a car seat and stroller system. All sorts of good info in these answers, so make sure to listen till the end.
All of this and more on Episode 14 of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
Tyler Merritt, CEO of Nine Line Apparel joins Beav and Alex for episode 12. As an Army Captain, Tyler was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Tyler was a special forces Apache helicopter pilot(yes for real) his unit was deployed more than any other special operations unit to this day. This gave Tyler a unique experience trying to build and keep moral with in his overworked team. Moral shirts were just the beginning as Tyler “fell” into the t-shirt business, and started Nine Line Apparel while still at war in 2012.
The Nine Line Foundation, a Non-Profit organization, was started in 2013 as an effort to give back to Tylers friend and West Point classmate, Captain Edward Klein, who lost three limbs while deployed in Afghanistan. The Foundation built CPT Klein a new home that is wheel chair accessible, as well as helping with the enormous rehabilitation costs. This would take Tyler and Nine Line down a path of passion to help those in need within the Military community.
Based out of Savannah, GA, The Nine Line Foundation has now started a community of 74 tiny homes called the Veterans Village. A place for homeless Vets to transition back into civilian working life. Not only are they given housing, Nine Line provides work training and skill building for the Veterans. All of which is volunteer based, meaning 100% of the donations go straight to those in need.
Among all of this, Tyler is also a father and husband that has struggled to find that elusive Work/Life balance. The guys get into what its like to be a deployed husband and father, VS now being a busy CEO and Non-Profit Founder.
All of this and more, on Episode 12 of the Tactical Baby Gear® Podcast.
In this episode the guys dive into Beav’s new(3rd time) personal mission to combat his Dad Bod. You'll hear about • Nutrition • Work out schedules, • What has worked and • What has NOT worked • & Beav’s hate for salad, AKA Rabbit Food. Beav has tried several times in the past to get into a regiment of "healthy" eating and working out, but with a busy schedule, 2 kids, and a second broken leg late last year, going to the gym has not been a priority.
With a new mental preparedness, Beav is ready to get back into gym and give it an honest go.

Coming down off the high of Father’s Day, the guys are diving into the big topics of fatherhood: bedtime routines, why the terrible twos are nothing next to having a threenager, laying down the law when your kid won’t eat, dealing with kids being home over summer break, participation trophies and finding ways to spend time with the whole family. That’s a lot of ground to cover, but they also take time to answer a quick viewer question and reveal the long-anticipated return of one of your favorite TBG traditions.
Long-time friend of Tactical Baby Gear Vaughn Neville, aka @TheManspot stops by the podcast for the first time, so you know it’s going to get out of control. If you’re not familiar (and seriously, how are you not familiar?), The Man Spot is an Instagram force of nature, filling his feed with pure manly America.
The guys sit down with Vaughn to hear about his meteoric rise from door-to-door salesman to legendary influencer, and answer a few questions about parenting, how they met their wives, the death penalty (not related to how they met their wives, we should point out), keeping a marriage fresh, guns and… to be honest, once they get on guns, they kinda stay on it. But that’s what happens when The Manspot shows up.

It’s one of the greatest tests of parenthood – summer vacation. As they prepare for three whole months without school, the dads of TBG are talking about summer. A lot has changed since Beav and Alex were kids, and they’re inviting listeners to join in the conversation – what were some of the crazy things you did when you were a kid that you’d never allow your kids to do? Sound off online.
Speaking of which, the guys dig into the mailbag again to answer some viewer questions. Topics this episode run the gamut from how parents adapt schedules to summer, whether or not to vaccinate, their thoughts on paternity leave and more. If you’re expecting twins, you won’t want to miss this one, as Alex shares how he and his wife handled their own “buy one get one free” sale.

In this edition of the Tactical Baby Gear podcast, Beav and Alex welcome TBG’s own customer service guru Matt Kania to the table as they focus on parenting a special needs child. Raising his 14-year-old special need son Trenton presents plenty of challenges for Matt, from dentists visits to simply trying to communicate, and he shares a few stories of the struggle he and his wife face.
The guys are coming off a long Easter weekend, and they have plenty of parenting to talk about. Beav took the family to Disney World, and he came back with some solid advice on handling the crowds, walking the line between saying yes and saying no, and what crucial piece of parenting gear is no longer allowed at the Magic Kingdom. Traveling with kids is tough, so don’t miss a few notes from the experts before your next road trip.
