Todays guest is one of the most exciting writers in the industry today. Able to balance working for Marvel, DC and on her own independent books, she has come a long way since winning the Top Cow talent hunt in 2013.Working her way through powerhouse franchises such as Rick & Morty, Barbie and Power Rangers, she found herself exclusively signed to Marvel in 2019. While there she worked on British Favourite Death’s Head, as well as being an integral park of the Krakoa era with Excalibur and X of Swords. That’s not to mention writing the likes of Thanos, Strikeforce and Age of Conan – Belit.But she finally saw the light and joined the light side, writing for DC, working her way through the femme fatales of Harley Quinn, Punchline and overseeing a seminal run on Catwoman, which also crossed over with Zdarsky’s Batman in an excellent event, The Gotham War.Our guest today is Tini Howard!

Jason Shawn Alexander is an artist who is amongst the most highly regarded in the industry. Having worked for both of the ‘Big 2’, as well as Image Comics, Dark Horse and Oni Press.
Think Spawn, Empty Zone, Marvel Zombies, Batman, Abe Sapien, and of course, Killadelphia, a title that has been highlighted on pretty much every reviews pod with done, and for good reason. One of the most dynamic and terrifying depictions of vampires in years, it’s no surprise that a live action adaptation is in the works (though Rodney wouldn’t give up details, maybe Jason can let a few things slip…)
We cover all of his influences, his relationship with Todd McFarlane and his time on Spawn, how Killadelphia came together with Rodney Barnes and what the future holds!

Barnes has written and produced The Boondocks, My Wife and Kids, Everybody Hates Chris, Those Who Can't, Marvel's Runaways, American Gods, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, and is currently an executive producer/writer on HBO's Untitled Los Angeles Lakers drama.
He's also the co-creator behind one of our absolute favourite comics from the last couple of years - Killadelphia from Image Comics.

In honour of World Book Day, we thought we'd present a very special book club with one of the undoubted greats of the Comic Book Genre, Art Spiegelman's MAUS.
MAUS depicts Spiegelman interviewing his father about his experiences as a Polish Jew and Holocaust survivor. The work employs postmodernist techniques and represents Jews as mice, Germans as cats, and Poles as pigs. Critics have classified Maus as memoir, biography, history, fiction, autobiography, or a mix of genres. In 1992, it became the first graphic novel to win a Pulitzer Prize.
This one was Roddy's choice, and he is joined by Alan and Keith for a deep dive into this undoubted classic.

But in the 21st century, being immortal is a difficult secret to keep, and when you live long enough, you learn that there are many fates far worse than death.
Keith, Alan and Roddy deep dive into this underrated masterpiece, with a sequel - The Old Guard: Force Multiplied, available for Preorder now, and due for release on December 18th.

It's time for another new podcast show! This one is 'My First Comic' in which we'll be chatting with various regular customers in the store about their first exposure to the glorious world of comics! What title left such an impression that they fell in love with the art-form?
First up (and perfect timing since it's his birthday today) is Gerard Lavery, a long time customer who has been with us almost since the beginning. His title of choice? The Dark Knight Returns, Frank Miller's 1986 masterpiece.

Pride of Baghdad is a graphic novel written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Niko Henrichon released by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint on September 13, 2006.
The story is a fictionalized account of the true story of four lions that escaped from the Baghdad Zoo after an American bombing in 2003. The book won the IGN award for best original graphic novel in 2006.

Welcome to our brand new format for our Reviews Show. We like to think we're a good store at minimising spoilers. When anyone comes in, if we're chatting about anything specific, we'll take a pause until we know everyone in the store has already read or seen something.
With that ethos in mind, we decided to make our reviews show spoiler heavy, but no titles will be discussed that were released in the month of posting the podcast. In other words, in January 2019, we're discussing the best of December 2018.

A new addition to the Podcast Channel - A Comics Review Show!
Again I am joined by Keith, Ciaran and Stephen, and hope to make this a monthly show where we look back over our favourite comics released that month. It is also my hope to rotate the guests and get as many points of view into the podcast network as possible.

We're back with another Book Club and this times it's Keith's choice, and what a book! The Old Guard TP Vol 1: Opening Fire written by Greg Rucka with art by Leandro Fernandez.

But in the 21st century, being immortal is a difficult secret to keep, and when you live long enough, you learn that there are many fates far worse than death.
Keith, Alan and Roddy deep dive into this underrated masterpiece, with a sequel - The Old Guard: Force Multiplied, available for Preorder now, and due for release on December 18th.

Pride of Baghdad is a graphic novel written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Niko Henrichon released by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint on September 13, 2006.
The story is a fictionalized account of the true story of four lions that escaped from the Baghdad Zoo after an American bombing in 2003. The book won the IGN award for best original graphic novel in 2006.

Welcome to our brand new format for our Reviews Show. We like to think we're a good store at minimising spoilers. When anyone comes in, if we're chatting about anything specific, we'll take a pause until we know everyone in the store has already read or seen something.
With that ethos in mind, we decided to make our reviews show spoiler heavy, but no titles will be discussed that were released in the month of posting the podcast. In other words, in January 2019, we're discussing the best of December 2018.

We do describe the action well enough (we think!) to follow the plot of the movie but we do recommend putting it side by side with the movie to get the most out of it.
