Today, we're diving headfirst into a topic that's been weighing on our minds: the legendary "shorts struggle." Ladies, you know what we mean – finding that perfect pair that makes you feel unstoppable, only to have doubts creep in. 🩳

But here's the deal – those doubts? They don't stand a chance against the fierce determination of our incredible guests. We've got our amazing staff on board, sharing side-splitting stories of breaking free from the chains of shorts standards imposed by a world that just can't keep up. From internal debates to full-blown "I am rocking these shorts!" moments – we're unpacking it all.

And let's address another truth: most shorts don't cater to the diversity of real women's bodies. But we're saying enough is enough. To the woman with a pillow on her lap, we see you. To the one staring at those uncomfy shorts in the closet, we've been there. It's time to rewrite the script.

Join us as we challenge every woman to embrace the shorts revolution before Fall's end! Snap a pic, tag us, and show the world you're here to reclaim your confidence. We're not just kicking ass; we're dismantling diet culture, one pair of shorts at a time. Let's flip the narrative and let those beautiful bodies shine, in all their shapes and sizes. 🌟🦋

Tune in, let's laugh, let's conquer, and let's rock those damn shorts like the fierce warriors we are!

Listen to this podcast to hear real life examples of diet culture in school systems and how you might be able to navigate it as a teacher or parent. Diet culture has seeped its way into our school systems for decades and the results are staggering. In an attempt to reverse the "Obesity epidemic" school systems have caused hyperawareness over bodies, calories, movement and shame. The average girl starts her first diet at age 12, 3/5 girls in High school will have disordered eating, 4/5 will fall prey to chronic dieting. By the time our youth enter college they are set up for a world of struggle with body image, peer pressure and self-esteem. It's no wonder anxiety and depression are higher than ever.

In this episode the staff of Empowered RX gather for a round-table discussion about their lived experiences growing up immersed in diet culture. The sad part of it all is that the universal thread woven among all of our stories is one of self-deprecation, confusion and body shame. As a society we NEED to do better.

Episode 22, Hosted by Jordan Connolly- focuses on diet culture experiences, family dynamics, athlete experiences and more. While all of our staff happened to have been athletes at one time or another, we recognize that diet culture is just as impactful for men & women with all sorts of backgrounds.... athletic or not.

At Empowered RX we believe in the transformative power of weightlifting and movement in the healing of trauma. Human beings have an amazing capacity to overcome adversity. Sometimes memories, tension and emotional pain get "stuck" in the body. When talk therapy and conversation complicates or can't alleviate discomfort, we believe that movement can be prescribed to help work through hardship and to help re-create embodiment.

This short introduction to this idea will launch us into a mini-wellness series that focuses on :

  • Sleep

  • Weightlifting

  • Mindset

  • Social Connection

  • Nutrition

  • HIIT

  • Cardio

as interventions to alleviating stress and the feeling of being "stuck".
