We’re talking the 2013 zombie rom-com (zom-rom-com?) ‘Warm Bodies’ starring Nicholaus Hoult as a zombie named ‘R’ and Teresa Palmer as a woman named Julie who is also the daughter of the film’s most important character: A MAN BY THE NAME OF COLONEL GRIGIO PLAYED BY JOHN FREAKING MALKOVICH. In this 32nd episode of ‘You Should See The Other Guy,’ Sadie, Samantha, and the eponymous Jennifer get all up in their queer, bisexual feelings about the 2009 horror comedy ‘Jennifer’s Body.’ Should “Needy” (Amanda Seyfried) have joined Jennifer (Megan Fox) in succubus-dom? Should she have opted for emo kid Colin instead of her boyfriend Chip? Maybe! But mostly, we process our complex emotions about the core relationship in the film — and then somehow wind up talking about both ‘Spider-Man 2’ and a movie that Sadie swears exists called ‘Firehouse Dog.’ Enjoy!

‘You Should See The Other Guy’ enters its dirty thirties with an extended look at a Nora Ephron classic: ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ (1993), in which a Baltimore Sun reporter named Annie (Meg Ryan) goes to Seattle to stalk a single father / widower named Sam (Tom Hanks) all the while ignoring her own incredibly hot fiance Walter (Bill Pullman). Jenn, Sadie, and Samantha dive deep into the movie, constructing the case for both Walter and Victoria, but they also free associate into considerations of the cultural milieu of the 1990s, the rise of TikTok, and Meg Ryan’s bisexual-baiting hair. We are joined by special guest Kayla Meyers (Programmer for Indie Memphis) to discuss the ultimate other guy: Keanu Reeves playing himself. But we also swap celebrity sightings, talk about food, and have some deep quarantine feels. So you should definitely, not maybe, listen to this episode. (I’m sorry.)
It’s ‘Twilight’ time. For our twentieth episode, we pulled out all the stops and watched all five films in the Twilight Saga. Do we think pre-werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) would be better for self-insert protagonist Bella Swan (K. Stew) than 107-year-old vampire Edward Cullen (R. Pats)? Yes! Do we also ponder the mechanics of vampire lovemaking, take deep dives into our shame-based religious upbringings (or the lack thereof), and laugh about the unintentionally comical CGI and sound effects in these movies? Also yes! (You should know that the full conversation about these movies lasted two and a half hours, but we had to omit a half hour in which we were barely coherent — that’s how delirious these movies made us.)

In this thirteenth episode of ‘You Should See The Other Guy’ (which, for Samantha, is actually the ten thousand and thirteenth episode because she is caught in a time loop on the day of recording), Jenn, Sadie, and Samantha make the case for lovable and unfairly maligned cameraman Larry (Chris Elliott) over misanthropic TV weatherman Phil Connors (Bill Murray) in the beloved 1993 fantasy rom-com ‘Groundhog Day.’ But expect lots of tangents about Andie MacDowell’s unspeakable beauty, the perfection of the Happy Death Day franchise, and the secret society that keeps a groundhog alive forever by feeding it immortality juice in a ritualistic annual ceremony. (Yes, it’s real. Google it!) And maybe, just maybe, this episode turned out good enough that Samantha can finally escape her own personal time loop and record another one.

But look, y’all. You know we only loosely stick to the premise, so expect a lot of tangents: We talk about Daniel Radcliffe’s befuddling-but-not-necessarily-bad head shape, praise Adam Driver’s all-around-awesomeness, and share some life tips for long-term relationships that don’t involve befriending random guys who write magnetic poetry at some party you’re at.
