Instant Relaxation. There are over 100 million neurons in your stomach. As many as are in the brain of a cat. This network acts like a second brain and is constantly sending signals to the brain in our head. We recognize these signals as ‘gut feelings’. We need to learn to trust these gut feelings, like we trust our cat's capacity to sense things. This little brain is known as the Vagus Nerve. The Vagus nerve communicates information from the brain to every organ in your body and triggers the relaxation response. Harvard University Scientist Dr Andrew Weil discovered a simple way to stimulate the Vagus Nerve which he calls, 4 7 8 breathing.
