Have you ever wondered where and how you hear God most clearly? In this episode of Small Beginnings with Sara, we’re leaning into what it really means to hear God’s voice—and to respond with obedience. Using the Hebrew word shama, which means “to hear and obey,” we’ll explore how faith is birthed when our hearts respond to the voice of the Anointed One (Romans 10:17).
Sara shares personal reflections on how God made each of us uniquely to connect with Him—and how your “secret place” may look different from someone else’s. Whether it’s quiet moments by still waters or unexpected whispers in the chaos, God is always speaking. The real question is: Will we obey when we hear Him?

📖 Romans 10:17 TPT

"Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways, and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, and easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.” — Matthew 11:29 TPT
I've been on a journey, seeking to understand God's unforced rhythms of grace. This week, that journey took me through the release of a new digital course. Instead of succumbing to the pressure of working 12 hours a day, I embraced a new rhythm: spending late afternoons playing golf with my husband. This choice to balance work and play brought a refreshing change. God wants to give rest to our souls, but it's up to us to choose it. I've been having deep conversations with God about life-work balance, and prioritizing time with Jesus through prayer, reading His Word, journaling, and walking in nature. These practices have become essential for the well-being of my soul. Simplifying my meals, like baking chicken and making a salad, has also contributed to this better balance.
On top of it all, my golf game has seen remarkable improvement. Just yesterday, I chipped in a ball on hole 12, found myself mostly two-putting, and figured out my driver alignment. On a par 3, I hit my 7 iron onto the green and made par. These moments have been a testament to God's goodness. Join me as I share these insights and more, exploring how to integrate faith, work, and life in a way that brings true rest and refreshment.

In this episode, I share my ongoing grief journey and the valuable lessons I've learned along the way. Grief is a deeply personal process, and everyone experiences it differently. Here are some key insights from my journey:
Grief is a process with its own unique timeline for each person. I was determined to grieve well, accepting the deep pain. If you love deeply, you will grieve deeply; it is a blessing to grieve. There's beauty in moving from counting the days of grief to counting the days of blessings you had with your loved one.
Daily thankfulness is crucial for making it through each day. Remember, you can't fix someone else's grief, and they can't fix yours. Instead, listen and witness others' grief.
As a certified Grief Educator through David Kessler’s courses and mentoring, I felt compelled to help others. Grief is overwhelming, and often we don't know what to do or say. I discovered that creativity was a significant part of my healing process. It wasn't until two years after Wayman died that I recognized the seven main creative processes I used to cope with my pain.
Here are some Bible verses that have been particularly comforting to me:
Additionally, I recommend two books that have helped me reflect on grief and find new meaning:
I have been dreaming and knowing that I had an assignment to write and release a digital course on healing through the creative process. Grief is a process, unique to each individual, and we must process it to heal. I am excited to announce a new digital course on tools to help you heal from grief and trauma.
The course, titled "Healing Your Heart through Creativity: Painting Module 1," will be available for presale on July 17 at 12 noon Central Time for $27 (regular price $47). A bonus session will be held on July 18 at 12 noon Central Time. Sign up here.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope these insights and resources bring you comfort and help you navigate your own grief process.
Happy Fourth of July! As we celebrate our freedoms, let’s remember Psalm 145 and praise God daily. Join me in reflecting on His boundless goodness and majesty. Have you wondered what God is doing in the night? Has God seemed distant? Or disinterested?
'Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the Lord drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. ' Exodus 14:21 ESV
God is working in the night until the morning dawns. He sees you. He is working on your behalf. Hold on, dear one. Don’t give up. God is able to bring you the dry land. This week I celebrate eleven weeks of marriage to My Man, Earl Price. We have been having great communication about how we are doing. The challenges have become easier because we are serving each other with joy.
This morning God led me to write Earl an email thanking him for the top 10 ways I have felt his love in the last 48 hours. As I reflected on the top ten ways I have felt Earl’s deep love for me, they include all of the five love languages. I find that very interesting that God showed me clearly how Earl is learning to love me so well. Here are few examples of what I wrote to him this morning. Would you consider writing a love note to people in your life thanking them specifically how they are loving you in this current season? Even if it feels like so much darkness, be the bringer of light into the equation and see how the God of the Impossible works on your behalf. Acts of service—Earl brings me tea every morning Quality time—he is playing golf with me a few evenings a week instead of with his regular group to give me confidence on the course Gifts—he has ordered toilet paper on Amazon and it will arrive before we run out! Physical touch—This does not need much elaboration (HaHa) but we know this gift of touch is one God has given us. Words of Affirmation—I think this is maybe my strongest need and Earl is hitting a home run with this love language. He brags on my golf game and my cooking and my personality and who I am in God.
My recipe for this week is so easy and so delicious. We are eating cleaner and healthier now for one week. Earl has lost a few pounds and my success is that I have not gained. Waiting for my metabolism to kick in to higher gear without sugar. Baked Chicken Pesto with Fresh Mozzarella Bake for 20-25 minutes at 400 degrees F. Lay unthowed chicken breasts (thinner are best, you can also use thighs) in a baking dish oils with olive or avocado oil. Pour fresh pesto sauce to cover each breast. (I use the fresh pesto from Costco.) Layer with fresh tomato slices. I used halved cherry tomatoes to cover each chicken breast. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees F. Then remove from oven and add two slices of fresh mozzarella cheese on each breast and return to the oven for another 5 minutes or until melted. I doubled the recipe and had left-overs and it was as good the second night reheated. I served it with a high protein red lentil pasta and fresh no sugar marinara sauce. The red lentil pasta was not our favorite and not sure it was worth the high protein for the cardboard texture and taste. Haha!

In this week's episode, we dive into the power of embracing our unique journeys and the songs that only we can sing.
Life is a journey filled with both valleys and mountaintop experiences, and this week has been no exception for me. I've experienced moments of deep grief as I bid farewell to cherished members of God's family, while also rejoicing in the new adventures life has to offer.
One of my recent highlights was hitting the golf course with my new husband. It was my first time playing 18 holes, and despite the challenges, we both had an incredible time. It's moments like these that remind me of the importance of embracing new experiences and finding joy in the journey.
In addition to sharing my own experiences, I also discuss some key takeaways from this week, including resetting my health goals, leaning on God for comfort during times of change, and finding joy in learning new things.
Plus, I'm sharing a delicious recipe for grain-free protein granola that my husband absolutely loves! Trust me, it's a game-changer.
I'd love to hear from you! What songs are you singing in your life right now? Let's inspire each other to embrace the unique melodies that only we can bring to the world.
Stay tuned for more episodes coming your way soon!
How are you Giving Joy in your relationships? The old French meaning of enjoy is to "give joy to"! "enjoier" Romans 12:12 (TPT) "Let this hope burst forth within you, releasing a continual joy. Don’t give up in a time of trouble, but commune with God at all times." "Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer."(NIV) Enjoy means to Give JOY. Not be on the receiving end. How did I give joy in this season of my new beginnings this past week?
Life's journey has been quite a ride lately, hasn't it? Just eight weeks into marriage, Earl and I have experienced moments of calmness, joy, and some unexpected challenges. From a close call with a car accident to navigating grief anniversaries and unexpected hail storms, we've faced the ups and downs together.
But amidst it all, I've found a guiding light. Here are three steps I've been leaning on to find peace on this journey, inspired by Psalm 16:11:
1️⃣ Trusting that God is guiding our way, even in the darkest moments.
2️⃣ Seeking joy in God's presence, letting His light illuminate our path.
3️⃣ Remembering that walking with Jesus means experiencing divine pleasures forevermore.
🙏 Join me as I share my journey and encourage you to navigate life with faith and courage. Don't miss out—listen now!

Welcome to this week's episode, where we dive into the question: What do you do in a crisis? This week, I experienced some intense moments, but I found comfort in knowing that God was with me through it all. My husband Earl and I have been married for just five weeks, and we faced our first real test together. Despite the uncertainty, we supported each other with grace and patience.
Join me as I share the two challenges we encountered this past week and how we leaned on our faith to get through them. Our key scriptures for this episode are primarily from the Book of Job, a story that resonates deeply when facing trials:
As I share my journey of being married for just five weeks, here are three key learnings that have kept us going:
I hope this episode encourages you and brings you comfort in your journey, reminding you that even in the hardest times, God knows the way you take. Be blessed, dear ones, and let's explore these powerful scriptures together.
As we embark on this journey, we're reminded of the omnipresence of Jesus in our lives, encapsulated beautifully in Acts 17:28. He is not merely a distant figure but the very essence of our existence, guiding us through every moment.
In this powerful episode, we delve into the profound significance of Jesus as the central figure in both the early rains and latter rains of our lives. Drawing from Acts 17:28 and James 5:7, we uncover the divine connection between our existence and the continuous outpouring of blessings from our Savior.
Imagine waking up every day knowing that you're not alone, but rather enveloped by the presence of Jesus, your constant companion and helper in every situation. From the smallest inconveniences to the greatest challenges, He is there, working miracles in the midst of our ordinary lives.
As we reflect on our experiences, we're reminded that our time spent in communion with Jesus, especially in the secret place, is indispensable. It's in these intimate moments that we find growth, peace, and a deepening of our relationship with Him.
But it doesn't end there. Just as the farmers eagerly anticipate the rains for their harvest, we too eagerly await the latter day showers of blessing. These showers come in various forms – from precious moments with loved ones to unexpected acts of kindness – each contributing to the abundant harvest in God's Kingdom.
Join us as we navigate through the ups and downs of life, anchored by the unwavering truth that Jesus is indeed the center of it all. Let's embrace the early rains and the latter day showers with open hearts and a renewed sense of purpose, knowing that in Him, we live, move, and have our being.
It’s been 21 days since I walked down the aisle and said "I do" to Earl, and let me tell you, these first weeks of marriage have been nothing short of a beautiful whirlwind. 🌪️
In this episode, I dive deep into the lessons I've learned, the grace I've received, and the blessings that have overflowed in this new chapter of life. 💖
We kick things off with a powerful reflection on Genesis 1:28, where God's first commandment to Adam and Eve reminds us that we are blessed before we are assigned. It's all about recognizing the overflow of God's goodness in our lives! 🙌
Then, get ready to tantalize your taste buds as I share my absolute favorite recipe: a mouthwatering Spinach Strawberry Salad that's sure to impress your special someone. 🥗
But wait, there's more! I'll also be talking about the importance of spending time in nature each day, grounding ourselves on the holy ground that God has provided. Take off those shoes, feel the earth beneath your feet, and open your heart to hear His voice in new and unexpected ways. 🌿
So, what are you waiting for? Tune in to the latest episode now and join me on this incredible journey of love, growth, and delicious food! 🎧✨

As I stand on the brink of saying "I DO!" tomorrow, I find solace and guidance in Psalm 23. In the midst of wedding plans and nerves, I've discovered a secret to being guided by God. I immerse myself in this passage, finding peace in its words. With each read, I'm reminded to find my peace, envision the Secret Place with God, hold everything lightly, and rely on my support system. Psalm 23 reassures me that God is my shepherd, providing all I need, leading me to tranquility, renewing my strength, and comforting me in the darkest times. Tomorrow, as I embark on this new journey, I carry these words with me, knowing that God's goodness and love will pursue me always. Amen.
🎙️ Recap: The Last Week Before I Say "I DO!" 🎉
Galatians 5:22-25 reminds us of the fruits of the Holy Spirit, guiding us towards love, joy, and peace. This week, I've focused on centering my life on Jesus as I prepare for my wedding with Earl.
Centering on Jesus: Letting the Spirit lead in every aspect of our lives has been crucial. Our theme: simply elegant, in every decision.
Embracing Spontaneity: Enjoying precious moments with loved ones, like a spontaneous zoo day with the grandkids, has brought unexpected joy.
Letting Go & Prioritizing: Releasing control over tasks like house cleaning, making more time for Jesus, and self-care have been priorities.
Meaningful Traditions: From baking pound cakes to remembering cherished memories, it's the simple, heartfelt touches that matter most.
Lessons Learned: Simple is better than extravagant, and allowing nature's beauty to shine can be enough.
Enjoying the Process: Slowing down and embracing God's presence has brought a deeper appreciation for this special week.
Seeking Help & Prayer: Acknowledging challenges, like uncomfortable earrings, and turning to prayer with Earl has realigned us with God's purpose and glory.
Letting the fruits of the Holy Spirit guide us, may this week be filled with love, joy, and peace as we prepare to say "I DO!" 🙏✨ #WeddingPrep #GodGuides #LoveInAction

Hey there, beloved!
Welcome to Small Beginnings with Sara, where we dive into all things faith, life, and filling our lamps with oil. Have you ever thought about the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25? It's a powerful reminder that we need to keep our lamps filled with oil, ready for when the bridegroom returns. So, here's the question: Are you asking God how to fill your lamp with His oil?
I know, I'm just scratching the surface of what God wants to reveal to us, but let's ponder on this together today, shall we?
So here's my prayer for us: May we live each day, empowered by the presence of God within us. We're not alone, my friend. God is right here, living inside of us, every moment. And that changes everything, doesn't it?
Let's learn together how to tap into that divine presence, how to let our lights shine brightly in this world. Because trust me, beautiful one, there's nothing more beautiful than a life filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit, shining brightly in the darkness.
So join me as we journey together, discovering what it means to live as beloved children of God, in constant communion with our Creator.
Until next time, keep shining your light!

Welcome to "Small Beginnings" with Sara, where we delve into the essence of intimacy with God as our legacy. Today, my dear friend Julia Howard joins me as we explore our connection as friends of God.
In our conversation, we discuss our daily interactions with The Divine. How are we spending our time each day? How are we fostering intimacy with God through our creativity?
Creativity is a tool to foster intimacy with God. Julia and I share how our encounters with God should leave a lasting impact. If our moments with the Lord don't challenge us, if we aren't stirred or moved to change, then we've missed the point. God calls us to be transformed continually, a process that unfolds in the ordinary moments of life.
So, join us in this raw, authentic discussion as we unravel the beauty and depth of cultivating intimacy with God in our daily lives.

Do you ever feel like your path is set in stone, your choices predetermined, and there's no room for change? Maybe you've accepted that this is just how things are meant to be?
In today's episode of Small Beginnings, I want to show you that peace and joy aren't distant ideals but part of your legacy. In Philippians 4:4, 6-9, we're guided through the steps to invite God's guidance into our lives, fostering joy and peace—qualities I personally desire more of.
Would you come alongside me on this journey? Let's explore living aligned with our values and purposes with God's love. In this episode, I'll share the guidance I've received from Him on living intentionally each day.
My hope is that this podcast speaks to your heart and mind, becoming a source of blessing for you.
May it encourage you to make even slight adjustments in your daily choices, leading to the blossoming of greater joy and peace.
Remember, God's goodness surrounds us, and He earnestly desires for you to experience it in your everyday life.

Hey friends, settle in for a heartwarming episode of Small Beginnings with Sara! Today, I'm joined by one of my dearest friends, Alicia Rae Broxmeyer, as we dive into the power of divine intercession and how it brought us together in a truly beautiful way.
Community has played a huge role in our creative journeys, and throughout our chat, we discussed how important it is to surround ourselves with supportive, uplifting people. But let's get real - fear and insecurity can still creep in, and that's where Alicia's story really shines.
She shares with us some amazing insights on how she went from avoiding going live to confidently leading multiple groups and making a huge impact.
So, my lovely listeners, here's a question for you all - what's one fear that's been holding you back from reaching the calling God has for you?
Let's explore this together on this episode of Small Beginnings with Sara.

Thanks for joining me on this journey of so many more small beginnings with God.
I often reflect on the idea that I only thought there would be one small beginning, and that was me becoming an artist. God had so many more. This set of scriptures anchors my heart to this season of my life. Will you embrace the truth of these holy words as well in this season of your life? Regardless of circumstances?
Psalm 27:13-14 NLT: "Yet I am confident I will see the Lord's goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD."
Welcome back, my fellow creatives!
I just got back from a trip, and God showed me so much during that time away to rest in Him and His goodness.
While I was away, God has reminded me how far I've come and how much I've accomplished.
I've written books, created art, started a coaching program, and ministered to so many people.
And it's all been through Him.
The amazing thing is that none of these opportunities were on my radar when I took that first step of faith.
It's a true testament to how God can transform your life and take you on a journey beyond your wildest dreams.
So, as we dive in this week, I'm excited to share my story with you and hopefully inspire you to keep moving forward in your own journey of faith as well.

At some point in our lives, we have all found ourselves waiting for something.
Whether it's waiting for that job offer, that special someone to come into our lives or that next big opportunity.
It's human nature to wait. But have you ever stopped to consider how much time you're spending waiting?
This week, on Small Beginnings with Sara, God has been bringing my attention to the concept of time and reminding me that He is the ultimate Time Keeper.

On today's episode of Small Beginnings with Sara, I am thrilled to share with you my latest adventure.
Have you been following my travels on social media?
I'm currently on a transatlantic cruise, and I can't even begin to express how much God has been speaking to me during this time.
One of the most valuable lessons He has reminded me of is the importance of rest and stillness.
It's easy to get caught up in the busyness of our lives, constantly striving towards our goals and aspirations.
But taking moments to rest and appreciate the journey is just as crucial as reaching our destinations.
So, even if you're not sailing across the ocean like me, remember to take those refresh moments and, enjoy the journey, and tune in to today's episode.

Thanks for joining me on this journey of so many more small beginnings with God. I often reflect on the idea that i only thought there would be one small beginning and that was me becoming an artist. God had so many more. This set of scriptures anchors my heart to this season of my life. Will you embrace the truth of these holy words as well in this season of your life? Regardless of circumstances?
Psalm 27:13-14 NLT "Yet I am confident I will see the Lord's goodness while I am here in the land of the living. Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD."
Hey y'all!
It's always a pleasure to have you join me on Small Beginnings with Sara. In this episode, I couldn't be more thrilled to share my journey from 2022 with you.
It's was a year of adventure, growth, and learning. Above all, God was so faithful that year in revealing His mission for me in His Kingdom.
You will hear my heart as I recount the moment I removed my wedding ring after two years since my beloved Wayman's passing. And I found myself asking God if He was enough for me if I never got married again. The answer transformed my perspective.
I am excited to share this vulnerable moment with you all and hopefully inspire you along the way.
I can't wait to hear what y'all think!
I wrote three books in 2021. Two about my grief journey-Reflecting on Grief and Moving Beyond Pain: Living with Loss and Discovering New Meaning and a Companion Reflection Journal with 100 scriptures to anchor your thoughts on as you grieve and reflect. My first children's book was released in 2021, How Good Can God Be?. I am very proud of this book as it tells the story of my dad and me as I grew up on Texas ranch. The relationship between father and child is a prototype of our relationship with God as His children. All are available on Amazon.

I have jumped off the boat and restarted my podcast after a two and half year rest. So in these first episodes, I am sharing my heart reflections of what has happened in my life. In this new season, I am going raw and real. Authentic and no script or editing. So thanks for your grace as you hear my mess ups. But "perfection is the enemy of progress" according to Winston Churchill. So season 2 of my Small Beginnings with Sara has launched.
In this episode 1 I share about my 2021 year. It was a year of crying. A year of reflecting. A year of finding places of thanksgiving. A year of small beginnings as a widow. A year of loss and more grieving as my dear friend, Ann (episode 7 of Season 1) and creative mentor loss excutive functioning due to massive strokes. A year to count my blessings and to continue to be brave and courageous with each new day. Will you join me on this journey?

Y'all, you are going to love my podcast #25 that completes my first season of podcasting. It is perfect since Michelle Hagen was instrumental in helping me get Small Beginnings with Sara off the ground back in May 2020. She held my hand the first night way past midnight as I was uploading and learning "all things podcasting." I am very grateful for my new virtual friend and recently got to meet her in person when Michelle came to my house for lunch while she was in Texas this Fall. This woman of God speaks from her heart with such love and strength. She is always thinking of others. Michelle is amazing and full of wisdom about all things mamahood, transitioning from career superstar to a stay-at-home mom with postpartum depression. She has an amazing podcast called The Busy Years and knows how to juggle a small business and mamahood and just the important things in life. Be blessed as you listen and learn from my friend Michelle how to give God your best yes. Michelle is a sales strategist, podcast, and the cheerleader we all need. With over 10 years of experience, Michelle helps women entrepreneurs take their sales and profits to the next level by them helping them refine their offerings, build systems and processes and creates sales cycles that sell. She also hosts the beloved podcast The Busy Years - Where Motherhood and Business Meet, she brings together guests who speak to women right where they are in the middle of motherhood and business. She is a midwest wife and mama to two spirited boys and can be found most mornings with messy hair, leggings, and a great cup of coffee. What a treat to be able to interview Noel Yang for this episode. Noel is one of the creatives I mentor one-on-one. Her story of small beginnings is so inspiring. Her near daily practice of creating has brought such freedom in her life. She describes her creative journey with God as discovering the playground of God instead of a tightrope walk. Noel is learning to trust God more as she embraces her new pathway as a painter. She describes her exchange of working for God to now living a life of rest, creating with God. She feels such joy from God and a deep satisfaction as she continues to explore her small beginnings of her pivot from film to painting. I know you will be inspired to take the next step in your own journey of creating as you listen to this episode.
Noel Yang is a Taiwanese artist living in New Zealand. She has been a film director/producer for 15 years and is now a painter creating vibrant abstract and realistic works with collectors over North America, Europe and Asia. Her desire is to create beauty and touch people through her work. You can connect with her and buy her original paintings and prints on https://www.noelyangart.com/ and follow her on her FB https://www.facebook.com/noelyang and IG https://www.instagram.com/noelyangart/

You are going to love my conversation with Emili Broyles. This may be just become your favorite episode. Emili shares her wisdom, right from the the heart of God on how to fulfill our longings with the plate in front of us, regardless of our circumstances. Your mouth is going to drop open as you hear Emili’s real life stories. I love this girl so much. Get ready to laugh, cry and be in awe of a great big loving God that Emili loves and lives so very close to every single day. This same God loves you, too.
Episode 20 is full of wisdom and humor and real authentic stories from my dear friend, Emili Broyles. Emili will soon have her nurse midwife certification from Vanderbilt University. She talks about rollercoasters, a ten course meal with Jesus, her encounters of answered prayers on airplanes and more. God is so in the middle of Emili’s life. You are going to be so encouraged by her story of small beginnings and how God usually just shows her the very next step on your journey.

The creation story is the second of two episodes where Jenni Fletcher interviews me about the seven days of creation. (Jenni is my dear friend who also wrote and sings my Small Beginnings song for this podcast. Her interviewing me for this two part series blessed me as she adds interesting details in this series on the seven days of creation.) In part two I share my passion about God passion and unique plan of creating man in such a beautiful way on Day 6. And then God rested with Adam and Eve on a very special Day 7. I share about the treasures of day six and day seven of creation as purpose in God's beautiful plan of creation. I speak of the foundation of each day adding to the next day as a perfect plan of God speaking what He created into being. I pray you are moved to create more in all areas of your life by listening to this episode. Thanks for listening to Part 2 of my special series on the seven days of creation.

Come away with Me virtually. Join my virtual creative spiritual retreat on September 4, 2020. We will be sharing a day together with me teaching and facilitating live from my Acts 1:8 Blessings studio in Texas. I will be focusing on three areas of creativity: hearing God's voice through Spiritual practice, writing creatively with prompts to go deeper in the spoken word, and of course, painting in your choice of medium: acrylic, watercolor or even crayons. You will be refreshed and renewed for your own next small beginnings. Our verse for this Creative Spiritual Retreat is Psalm 126:4 TPT "Now, Lord, do it again! Restore us to our former glory! Do you know you can hear God today? He is speaking to His children. In today's podcast, I share my own personal stories of how I hear God. In part 2, I share the last two of five practical steps explaining how you too can begin to practice to hear God's voice in your own life.
Jenni Fletcher interviews me to help tell my story of hearing God's voice to make it a bit more interesting for you as the listener. Let me know what you think! We sure did have fun together recording in my closet. We took lots of laughing breaks.
I love the story of Jacob hearing God's voice in the midst of the dream of angels going up and down the ladder to heaven. That is is just a really really cool dream. The last two points of how I practice hearing God are:
Listen to Part 1 in Episode 14 if you missed the first three of my five practical points on how I hear God.
God is speaking. So our prayer is, "Lord, awaken our senses. Your servant is listening." Get ready to begin to hear more and more. God is rejoicing to see the work of hearing Him more begin.

I love the story of Samuel at the temple as a young boy hearing the voice of God for the first time, thinking it was Eli, the priest calling him. It is worth your time to go read this story for yourself in I Samuel 3:7-10.

Ali Lowry shares openly and freely about her life, her beautiful story of surrender to do all that God has asked her and her family to do. This dear friend of mine is living in Greece with her family-her husband, Josh and four children, ages 7 to 15. Ali is brave and vulnerable to share with my audience her story. Some of her story is told freshly for the first time to a public audience. This takes bravery. But Ali is one of my bravest and most courageous friends. She shares her story of many losses that includes adoption, miscarriages, prison sentence of a close family member, and moving to the other side of the ocean with her young family.
You are going to love hearing this moving story of Ali and what it means to follow God. Ali is a friend to many far and wide all over this earth. She knows how to help her family and her husband and herself live a life of being on mission daily, whether in she finds herself in Texas or in Greece.
You will learn so much from Ali. This girl is the real deal at age 40. She lives with a zest and adventure that sets the bar high. I love how you will clearly hear how much she loves each of her children with their unique gifts and her family and her friends. The values of the Lowery family come through the interview loud and clear. Ali would absolutely love hear from you. Please follow her on her Instagram @alilowry and send her and email at Aliklowry@gmail.com. Really communicate to her and she will for sure get back with you. This girl is the real deal and cares deeply about your story, too.

Resiliency: the ability to move forward even in adversity.
I wondered if I had resiliency. After all My Man passed away in January 2020. Could I move on? Ever? Could I bounce back, what ever that means? I have processed so much in the first half of 2020 right in the middle of my grief. I hope my story helps you grow in your own resilience. We all have choices. These six attributes of resiliency helped me to reflect on how I have been able to move forward in my own small beginnings since My Man left my side.
The six attributes of resiliency I reflected on and share are taken from the Drive.com website. Drive also has an app to help you grow in your own resilience quotients.

Listen as I share my top seven grieving practices that have helped me deal with my grief in dealing with the passing of my husband a few months ago. My life changed forever on January 19, 2020 when My Man, Wayman Lee Thurman passed away from a blood clot after open heart surgery. We had been together for nearly 35 years in a most blessed marriage and relationship.
My heart was broken in half and bleeding with deep pain and grief in missing My Man. Every day was harder than I ever imagined to live without my husband. I pray these seven practices will make a positive difference for you if you are grieving.
Did you know you have three different kinds of tears? One of my helpful hints is to cry and cry some more. Crying is a great healing process God build within us and way to deal with grief. I pray that you will feel God's comfort and share with others who may need to hear my message of hope in the midst of deep grief.

Hi Y’all,
I am so excited for you to listen and fall in love with the wisdom of my dear friend of over 18 years, Ann Younger, during episode 7 of Small Beginnings of Sara. The truth is this woman is one of my best friends who has been there for me in the best of times and the hardest of times. God certainly gifted me with this deep and wide and long friendship that is eternal.
Ann shares her secrets about the small beginnings of our friendship and how we have survived some tough times over the years. She is vulnerable in sharing some incidents which could have damaged our friendship and diminished our relationship, yet with God in the center of our friendship, our friendship only became stronger. Ann Younger has been my creative mentor, coach and cheerleader. She helps me create better than I ever could without her input. And she is a beautiful example of how to love like Jesus. I am so blessed to have her on my podcast to spread her love to the world.
One of my favorite experiences with Ann is when we are ministering as a team facilitating retreats called "Practicing Hearing God's voice in the Creative Process."** The love of Jesus flows through her to every person she encounters.
I am nearly certain I will have Ann on as a guest again for future episodes. This dear friend is so full of knowledge, practical information and inspiration for you on your own creative journey. I think you are going to share Ann's story with all your friends after you listen and be so blessed with what she shares. She is full of golden nuggets of advice and even prays a prayer for your own friendships to grow and flourish.
Connect with Ann Younger at the following places. Direct Message her on Instagram or Message her on FaceBook if you want to communicate with her. She will be blessed to hear from you.

Hi Y’all,
I am so excited for you to hear and fall in love with the wisdom of my dear friend, Jenni Fletcher, during episode 6 of Small Beginnings of Sara. The truth is this woman is a creative through and through in so many facets. I compare Jenni to a diamond with many talents and creative outlets that shine for Jesus. One of my most memorable experiences with Jenni was when we were ministering as a team on the streets of Austin in February 2020. I watched her sing a love song from Father God over a homeless man and just wept at the love of Jesus flowing through her voice and her heart to this man.
Her creative awakening just started occurring with gusto about three years ago. You will hear her describe her creative process with details of how she hears from God. She really believes that creativity is a beautiful process. When she describes her wrecked pottery process, it will help you relate that in each of our lives we have wrecked places in need of God putting us back on the wheel to remake something broken into something beautiful.
Y'all, Jenni describes her process of writing the song for my podcast, Small Beginnings with Sara. She said, “Yes” before she knew the next steps. She just believed. You will hear more about the amazing and inspirational lyrics of the song and how God helped her in the process. I love this song so much and can’t wait for you to hear how God led her step by step, within a period of about three weeks.
I am nearly certain I will have Jenni on as a guest again for future episodes. This girl is so full of knowledge, practical information and inspiration for you on your own creative journey. I think you are going to share Jenni’s story with all your creative friends after you listen and you will likely listen to this episode a second time to get all the treasures she shares. She is full of golden nuggets of advice and even prays a prayer for your own creative journey to grow and expand. And wait until you hear near the end of the episode about the miracle testimony of God providing for her need for a kiln in a supernatural way, just like our God likes to do.
Let me know what you think of this interview. You are in for treat!

Hi Y'all,
This episode is emotional for me. It connects the death of my Mama in 2014, the death of My Man in January 2020 with the death of our little chihuahua, Chico on May 1, 2020. Chico came to live with us in 2007 when my Mama came to live with us along with her little dog.
Dogs have been wonderful companions to us in our family. Wayman was the amazing care taker of Chico in our home. After Wayman’s death, Chico was extremely stressed and was peeing and pooing on the floor of our home. I had planned to have Chico put down by the vet as he had several other major health issues. But my youngest son told me he would take Chico and take care of him until he did not want to eat any more. (And Chico loved food more than anything, so we knew it was near the end when he stopped eating.)
God is a God of second chances. You will hear in this episode my tears as I share my heart about me getting to be the one to hold Chico in his last minutes of life. Also, this part of my personal journal, you will hear me process my thoughts on trying to make connections in my own grief of loosing My Man 104 days earlier. Grief is a process.
This episode is a bit heavier dealing with my grief in my own life. I pray you feel the comfort of God if you are experiencing any grief. Grief is not something we talk about a lot, but I am. I am walking through the middle of my grief so since this is my personal journal, you will hear more about my grief in more episodes to come.
Two very special parts of this day includes first, when Holy Spirit showed up with a fresh wind blowing over me soon after Chico took his last breath. Secondly, when the five young boys who are residents came to celebrate Chico at his burial site by bringing their treasures to bury with Chico to honor this little dog. We had in a simple heartfelt ceremony that was so beautiful and was such a gift to my grieving heart. Some of my pain turned to thanksgiving on this day that Chico died.

Hi Y'all,
Annie Laurie Ward is the first person I interviewed for my podcast. I knew it had to be Annie since she helped me get my book edited and published in 2019 in my own small beginning. It is going to be quite the treat to listen to Annie Laurie Ward and her wisdom and secrets about her marriage, her three young sons, and her friendships that spread across the globe. She will make you wish you lived next door to her.
This girl is a dear friend and also happens to be my content editor for my book Small Beginnings: A Journey to the Impossible. Annie helped turn my book into a page turner. She is so wise and fun to be with, you just want to hang out with her to chat for hours. Which by the way we have done, sometimes with a bottle of red wine.
And you need to listen all the way to the end of this episode to hear Annie's special secrets about her amazing mother in law. Like really, this practical secret can heal lots of broken mother in law relationships in the world. This episode bridges the gap of time and generations. Be sure to share it with your friends and family.

Take a step forward. Enjoy the process. Dare to hope for the impossible. In my podcast, Small Beginnings with Sara, I share with you my own small beginnings of my story in two parts. I share with you my story of becoming an artist, an author and now a podcaster. All things I never dreamed of in my life, but God did.
After I connected to God's dreams for my life in retirement after being a public school teacher and administrator, God continues showing me new small beginnings in my personal journey as a creative. More small beginnings than I ever imaged or dreamed are happening in my life. I hope my story will speak to the steps inside your own to inspire and encourage you to take your own small beginnings.
This is part two of my two part series on my own small beginnings. It may not be exactly divided evenly because I talk about the small beginnings in my own life-becoming an artist, author a podcaster and a new widow!

This is part one of my two part series on my own small beginnings. It may not be exactly divided evenly because I talk about three small beginnings in my life-becoming an artist, author and now a podcaster!
My ecourse 100 Days Creating with God is available to purchase at this link. It will help you create a daily discipline to connect with God and create from that place. $127

Hi Y'all!
My inaugural podcast had to be something special. Something I was excited to share with the world. One week before my release date, I heard from God in my thoughts to check and see if I could get the audio recording from @arthurj.photo who recorded Wayman's funeral service January 24, 2020. So thanks to @arthurj.photo, he was able to pull the sound recording of my eulogy for Wayman from his video.
And I knew this was the message that God wanted me to release to the world on what would have been our 35th wedding anniversary, May 19, 2020. Our marriage was special and holy. And My Man, Wayman Lee Thurman loved me well. So so well. You will hear me talk on today's podcast about two of the amazing traits Wayman had in our marriage that I believe made all the difference in our blessed marriage--Service to our family and thankfulness every day for what God was doing in our lives.
I Corinthians 13 is the love chapter in the Bible. I read verses 4-7 in my eulogy. "...keeps no record of being wronged" was a powerful characteristic in our marriage. I am so thankful for the many ways My Man loved me. And our family. He was an anchor in the storms and joy in the daily moments of our lives. I miss him so much that words cannot describe, even though I try. This grief journey is a process, not an end.
My prayer is you will be encouraged as you listen to my story you will be infused with hope and inspiration in your own story. You will hear much about my grief journey. It is a journey I cannot deny and it is my reality every single day. May God be glorified in all I say and do on my podcast and in my social media. He is my daily strength and joy.
So this story of my small beginnings of my life giving an eulogy as Wayman's widow is fitting to be released on our anniversary day. I pray it takes some of the deep sting of my pain for not celebrating with My Man on earth. But I know deep in my spirit, My Man is celebrating my small beginnings of starting my own podcast. We had not even talked about this as a dream. We dreamed so much together, but this assignment came to me on March 8, 2020 while in an airplane from Asheville, North Carolina to Atlanta, Georgia. But more about that in my next episodes of My Story.
