"God's Anointing CannotFail"

1 John 2:27

But the anointing which yehave received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you:but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is nolie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

This anointing is God’schoice, not ours. But remaining or abiding in Him is our choice. These choicesare not equal. Our choice is made in response to His and could only be madebecause of His. Because of this anointing, we bear a responsibility to obey Hiscommands, an effort that is guaranteed to succeed because of His help. To stayfaithful to the truth of the gospel is to abide with God and to walk in thelight. Because of this we can stand “confident and unashamed” when Christreturn. We have nothing to fear but can look forward to this day with assuranceof our salvation. Having been made righteous, following Him who is perfectlyrighteous, and doing what is right is incontrovertible evidence that we havebeen truly “born of him.” This confidence is not in ourselves, then, but inGod. His anointing cannot fail!
