In this episode, Ashanti Bentil - Dhue talks to G Sabini-Roberts about their experience as an activist and specialist consultant helping organisations and brands with the transgender inclusion.

“Within the world of DEI we're trying to encourage everyone to recognize the diversity. The diversities that they don't yet recognize themselves. The ways that they haven't yet looked at the world; the people that they work with; the people that they need to work well with, and opening those doors to bring those realisations out. That is one of the really juicy bits of the work that we personally get to do. It is those realisations that we see in people that make me think, right, now I can do what I do better.”

Episode Highlights:

  • The importance of activism for specific communities like the LGBTQ+ community
  • How their work with organisations has developed over time
  • What DEI professionals need to know and understand about transgender inclusion and the importance of pronouns

About G Sabini-Roberts:

G Sabini-Roberts uses They, Them pronouns. They are White, Non-binary, queer and autistic. They run two successful businesses, the first has nothing to do with DEI as it is a brand design business that served the entrepreneurial and small business communities over the past 10 years.

Back in the year 2000 G Sabini-Roberts and two business partners set up The Queer Box because they were constantly getting requests from different business owners to help them understand more about what they didn’t know relating to LGBTQ inclusion. Since starting The Queer Box, they have worked with over 100 businesses ranging in different sizes, such as HS to the cast and crew of Hollyoaks, the Local NHS Trust and several Universities. The Queer box has shown itself to be a business which has grown over the years and continues to successfully grow.
