after years of the reciprocity project, I’ve come to conclude that you need to build an audience before you do much of anything. It doesn’t matter whether you’re writing a book, building a business, or becoming an athlete, having an audience where you can find 1000 true fans as Kevin Kelley points out is essential feature of any venture. The problem is is that you have to provide value in advance before you actually can get an audience. You have to build friendships with people that you might not know. How do you build friendships as you just give without any intention of getting back.without these options of an audience, it’s very difficult to do any venture. As I always say, you’re just barking in the wind, as everybody else is not going to pay attention to what you’re doing.how do you build an audience? Focus on helping out others as long as you possibly can.
