A key aspects much of life is just showing up. It’s not necessarily about having good performance at any given moment, but it’s just showing up and being part of the zeitgeist.
The concept of "presence" can significantly influence organizational outcomes. Presence is defined as the consistent physical or virtual participation in activities or events within a specific context. In organizational settings, it's not merely performance that determines success, but continuous presence, which facilitates long-term opportunity recognition.
Presence enables two key mechanisms. First, it enhances "opportunity recognition," defined as the ability to identify valuable, previously unnoticed prospects for action. Continuous engagement in an environment improves one's capacity to notice and seize beneficial opportunities. Second, it fosters "personal brand recognition," defined as the awareness and credibility accrued through repeated exposure. The more an individual shows up, the more likely others are to consider them for new opportunities.
