The idea behind “strategizing,” where you are pushing to get ahead by doing some competitive actions is often not helpful.
It often creates nasty behaviors, and does not make you feel good inside. Thinking about your position relative to others often makes me feel very down.
A better way to frame strategy is thinking about how you can be helpful to others, and at the same time trying to capture a bit of the benefit that you’re creating for others.
It is really about serving other people, not about elbowing your way to the top. It is not about having a short supply and being in a fixed environment.
Strategy is about thinking of new ways that you can grow the environment so that everybody else benefits.
instead of thinking about ways that you can tear other people down, or push past them, think about ways that you can make other people feel joy, and as a reward for what you are doing, they’re happy to pay you.
