Verse 19The day, one attains viveka i.e. discriminative wisdom, the Atman is known. The body grows, the scenes change, but in reality, 'I' am an unchanging entity. The body-senses-mind-intellect perform their respective actions. The mere notion that 'I am doing something; I am thinking something.' is a delusion. Through the discriminative wisdom/ viveka, this delusion can be erased.Verse 20गुरु बिन ज्ञान न ऊपजे, गुरु बिन मिले न मोक्षJust as, sentient beings are dependent on the sunlight for their activities; the body-senses- mind-intellect depend upon the light of Atman for their activities. They cannot function in the absence of this light. Likewise, the master's guiding light is required on the path of spirituality to lead it to a logical conclusion - Moksha/ liberation. To have a heart to heart connection with master, love and surrender and yearning for master's proximity is required. If the connectivity is poor, the understanding of imparted knowledge will also be poor. A mind defiled by impurities, a heart barren of love and surrender, is not ready for the highest wisdom. Even if the intellect manages to grasp the words, mere intellectual understanding will not translate into actual comprehension.
