In this inaugural podcast, we discuss the recent Penhold Candidate Forum as the local municipal election approaches.

Topics of discussion include:

  • Politicians claim to be public servants, but what motivates them to serve the public through elected office?

  • We often hear victorious politicians claim to represent all citizens, but can they really?

  • How much can a small town grow and still keep the small town feel that so many of the candidates claimed to enjoy?

  • Asked about how to increase the diversity of the community, many candidates struggled to find the right (safe?) words. Perhaps that is because this idea of "diversity" is loaded with a lot of extra meaning. We try to unpack some of it.
