Dr. Ciara Staunton is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Middlesex University as well as a Senior researcher at Eurac Research’s Institute for Biomedicine. Dr. Staunton has also spent some time in South Africa, where she was a Visiting fellow at the University of Cape Town's Genetics Department and a Visiting Researcher at the Center for Applied Ethics at the University of Stellenbosch. Dr. Staunton was also an advisor to the South African National Institute for Communicable Diseases on strengthening data protection framework.

I spoke to Dr. Staunton about the State of Disaster in South Africa and the possible implications it may have on South Africans, both now and in the future.
