As little girls, the relationships with our fathers, good or bad, often spill over into our romantic relationships.  THIS IS TRUE FOR ME.  Because I longed to have a relationship with my father, I held on to my grandfather for dear life.  He was my hero for stepping up and loving me when my father didn't.  In addition, because he was so amazing as a father, all men had to compare to him.  I sought all of my needs from the men I was involved with.  I unknowingly needed them to do what my father didn't in order for me to let go of my grandfather.  Mine was extra because I didn't receive the motherly love I longed for either.
