A. A triad speaks of the trinity
B. The three basic components of music speak of the trinity of God--melody, harmony and rhythm.
C. Overtone series
D. Stars sing--electromagnetic waves, Isaiah 64:4, Psalm 148:1-5
II. God Commands “Sacrifice of Praise”
- Old Testament--Psalm 107:22, Psalm 116:17, Jonah 2:9
- New Testament--Hebrews 13:15, I Peter 2:5-9
- Millennium--Jeremiah 17:26
- God is Directly Involved in Music
- God gives a song--Isaiah 12:2, Psalm 40:2-3, Psalm 42:8
- God sings--Zephaniah 3:17, Luke 15:10
- Jesus sang prior to Gethsemane--Matthew 26:30
- God’s trumpet calls us home--I Thessalonians 4:16
- Some Biblical Examples
A. There are over 500 direct references to music in the Bible, and it is mentioned in 43 books of the Bible. Almost 200 songs are recorded in the Bible.
B. Lucifer was created as a musical being--Ezekiel 28:13-15
C. The stars sang at creation--Job 38:4-7
D. The Jewish song book is included in the canon--Psalms
E. Singing is a natural response to being filled with the Holy Spirit--Ephesians 5:19
F. God exists in an atmosphere of music--Revelation 5:6-10, Revelation14:2-3
G. God wanted the nation of Israel to remember their deliverance from Egypt and His leading through the wilderness by song--Deuteronomy 31:19
