We began the new year by turning our attention to first things first. C.S. Lewis wrote in a letter in 1951 “Put first things first and we get second things thrown in: put second things first & we lose both first and second things.”

Jesus modeled this principle by directing our attention again and again to the heart of God’s vision for us - “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment…”

How can we turn our attention to first things first and not become distracted or entangled by things of secondary importance?
