As the benefits of gender equality for governance become more apparent, boardroom diversity initiatives abound. But, these efforts have not translated to the gains in gender diversity one would expect. Corporations persistently object to state mandates. In the absence of state regulation, how can we make these initiatives translate into measurable outcomes? Can institutional investors play a role in implementing change?
