Actually today's topic, this episode is going to trigger some people. What I'm talking about is a lot of people that I have been speaking to lately, say, oh man, can't wait for gyms to open up, open back up again, we're getting out of lockdown so I can get back, back into shape.
So the first question I asked someone that says that is when gyms were open a year and a half ago, were they consistent every single time? Most of the time people are going to say no.
Those who were consistent most of the time, have managed to find a way to maintain that momentum during the lockdown, maybe not make the best progress of their entire life, but still, make progress and still Trek through.
So there's a camp of people that have attributed the reason why they're out of shape to closures of gyms. And then I guess my question for them is, well, now that we're locked down, I'd imagine that you'll be saving time commuting to and from work, what are you actually doing in that free time?
And then they say nothing. After work, they'll order Uber Eats, they'll go on Netflix and just watch a TV show and whatnot. And then they'll just waste their time. So what this means is it's not actually the gyms or the closure of the gyms that have led them to be out of shape.
And my clients know this gym plays a very small role in terms of being able to create progress. In terms of weight loss, most people want to lose weight. That's the reality of it because most people are overweight.
That's also the reality of it. So when you're looking at losing weight, the gym is actually irrelevant to losing weight. It plays a small part, but its habits, mindset, and nutrition are the three things that attribute to making progress.
