Championed as a voice for the global south, the BRICS grouping of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa aims to promote an alternative to a world order being traditionally centered around western powers. The bloc will soon host its 15th annual summit in Johannesburg, South Africa, where many topics, like BRICS expansion, the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the group's financial cooperation, will be on the table.
