Today's episode features some remarks about a series of books that has haunted me since the final page –- the Rabbit books of John Updike. Each iteration in the quartet of books is of a different decade: Rabbit Run (1960), Rabbit Redux (1971), Rabbit is Rich (1981), and Rabbit at Rest (1990), which allows for a charting of American history alongside the characters. Hope you enjoy hearing my thoughts about the puzzling, maddening, baroque, upsetting, but ultimately rewarding books, along with some thoughts about Updike himself.
