Amos had several visions concerning God’s judgement of his people, Israel. As Amos began to see each vision, it was pressed upon him to ask for mercy - the rewards seemed to be too harsh. At first, God changed His mind; however, the sins of the people were too many for forgiveness.

God wanted the people to seek him and live, but they did not; thus, judgement was upon them.

God spared a remnant - those faithful few.
