Episode 10 of ‘Make Change Happen with Steven Hernández’, Executive Director of the Legislature’s Non Partisan Commission on Women, Children, Seniors, Equity and Opportunity.
Featuring Georgia Goldburn CERCLE Network Co-Founder
Not unlike the impact of Redlining, Plessy vs Ferguson and the Poll Tax, the childcare crisis is a direct result of racialized and gender-based legislation and policies. With the childcare industry on the verge of a major transformation, not seen since the creation of Head Start in 1965, the Childcare Crisis Roundtable will discuss the history and the legacy of 400 years of childcare policies. We will examine how legislation and policies, designed to disenfranchise black women, have caused America’s Childcare System to devolve into the patchwork of care that now exists.
