The Five Common Elements to Effective and Sustaining Leadership Guide → https://www.leadershipthatlasts.net/fiveelementsintro

In this episode, Greg shares his thoughts on what it means to be a servant leader. Service is the third element of the five common elements of effective and sustaining leadership. In understanding the character of service Greg will highlight the three aspects of

  1. Know who you are leading.
  2. Supporting those you are leading.
  3. Providing value to others.

Effective leadership seeks to serve others. The goal of being a leader is not to get others to serve you, but for you to serve others and empower them to operate in their gifts.

  • KNOWING - Getting to know someone takes time and effort, but the payoffs are golden towards strengthening your family, team, etc.
  • SUPPORT - Humans may be the most advanced creatures on the planet but we are still limited in our overall individual abilities. If those you serve know they have your support, they will - more times than not - give more of themselves than if they did not know they had your full support.
  • VALUE - Effective leaders provide value to their team whereas ineffective leaders only focus on what value others can bring to them alone.

Being a servant leader is being an authentic leader. You are able to admit your shortcomings to allow your team to see where they can help you as you provide the resources they need to be able to help the overall goal. If you have a servant mindset in leadership you will begin to build a servant mindset community and culture.

RESPONSE QUESTION - What is one way that you can provide value to one individual this week?
