Insects, animals, the senses, and of course, love. All of those dress up 'Beginning My Studies' as a poem about one's love for nature. But can such a poem—that sallied forth from Walt Whitman into his rather autobiographical ‘Leaves of Grass’—be content to remain just a poem about nature alone?
