What does perfect sight look like – really? And what does it mean when you’re told that you don’t have it? What do the others see that you don’t? These are just some of the questions Amanda Harris wondered about as a young child, in awe of children that she could see running around at what seemed to her dangerously fast speeds, with no concept of what they could see that she couldn’t. Listen in this episode to her insights and reflections on perception and possibilities. About Amanda: Amanda Harris has been visually impaired since birth. During her childhood, there was an emphasis on what she couldn’t do, and at the age of seventeen she was receiving benefits and classed as “unemployable”. However, having gained her Law Degree, she rose to become Departmental Head of HR for her local council, before taking voluntary redundancy to set up her own Will Writing business in 2011. Amanda is married to Martyn, who is totally blind, and they have a teenage son. Amanda’s book “She Will Never…” is due to be published in October 2022. It is a funny, honest and moving story of a life with visual impairment, and a family with differing abilities. www.amandaharris.co.uk hello@amandaharris.co.uk (3) Amanda Harris | LinkedIn (2) Amanda Harris | Facebook About the host Rachel Maunder Rachel Maunder is a Story Coach, helping people find and craft their personal stories for greater engagement through speaking.
