Today's episode is a little different, I recently read a book by Jennie Allen, called find your people. And I really enjoyed the message and so I wanted to share some of my insights with you all.
This book talked all about finding (and letting go of) people in your life. With social media and phones, we are more connected than ever before, and yet at the same time, we are more isolated than ever before. We’re often tempted to do life alone, whether because we’re so busy or because relationships feel risky and hard. Loneliness can be a debilitating struggle, as people isolate themselves even further to avoid rejection. I know I have over the last couple of years, felt more isolated. I mean, as an introvert, I have still felt like I didn’t get enough interpersonal connections or enough community with the people around me. And so what about the extroverts out there listening, you’re in an even worse position. What I have learned over the years, is that you can’t design a life that really matters without a community of people supporting each other. In Find Your People, Jennie Allen draws on fascinating insights from science and history along with vulnerable stories from her own life.

You have the choice between gratitude and resentment. If you chose resentment, you drive out gratitude. If you choose gratitude you drive out resentment. For the benefit of your body, your brain, your family and everything else in your life, choose gratitude — and be grateful for the choice.

Imagine who you’ve always wanted to be. What are they doing? How do they spend their time? Who do they spend time with? What are their hobbies? What are their habits and routines? You can start as small as you need, for as long as you need. Because with each step you become closer to the person you truly are — your authentic and uninhibited self.

“If the plan doesn't work change the plan not the goal.” If you end up not succeeding with any small or big amount of success in achieving any one of your goals, it’s time to change the plan, not the goal nor to give up on it in any way. Nothing is impossible and you can achieve anything as long as you set your mind to it and don’t give up. Be flexible in how you achieve goals.

Today we are going to talk a little bit more about breaking down your goals into subgoals. It’s good to have big, ambitious goals, but many times, you can make them more attainable and realistic by breaking them down. A set of five smaller goals that will get you to your ambitious goal can be a lot more manageable and a lot less overwhelming.

Let's talk about SMART and DUMB goals. But no not in the way you're thinking about it. I'm talking about SMART: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. And DUMB: Dream-driven, Uplifting, Method-friendly, Behavior-driven.
Setting goals using these two acronyms can help you set different types of goals. SMART Goals can be used for more career-oriented growth and success. While DUMB Goals are more towards goals you want to achieve in your pursuit of happiness

Today we are talking about the importance of setting timelines for your goals. A goal, as I’ve said before, should be something that motivates you, scares you a little bit, makes you smile and feel content, maybe even proud, when you envision the moment you achieved it, can be measured so you know when you’ve achieved it and has a deadline!!
