How to find inner (and outer) peace in this very turbulent time?

People are a combination and accumulation of a variety of unfelt forces that are both internal and external. If they combine in a positive way, they create a state of homeostasis, where they feel great, they feel a state of peace. And if we are in an incorrect combination of these forces, we feel that we are shrouded in darkness and our lives are bleak.

In order to balance these forces, people try various methods that swing us in different directions. For example, we go on vacation to take work out of the equation for a while. Or, we use drugs or alcohol to numb the pain inside. These methods don't provide a permanent balance, and soon we realize that the forces on the outside that are creating chaos in the world and the inner forces that create war inside us remain unchanged.

We also try to create peace by eliminating certain elements from our lives, such as certain people. And what we find is that often those same types of people somehow find their way into our lives again. They somehow find their way back into our experience in new forms.

All of development aims at finding peace and homeostasis. This is why most people spend their lives dreaming about their retirement. This is why plants shift to find their place in the sun and why animals migrate, why ecosystems shift in order to find balance , and why humanity has created different countries with different types of government and various treaties.

However, underneath it all we still haven't found a template to manage various relationships between different types of people. Behind these biological bodies we have various desires that are in conflict with each other, and we don't know how to manage them. This creates all the disharmony and inner and outer wars.

How do we break out of this vicious cycle? That's what we hope to discover together at this Open Diner. And we'll do it through live music, open discussion, and various fun activities.
