A possible consequence of living in the world today is a feeling of insignificance. The more populated, chaotic, and interconnected the world becomes, the more of its vastness you see, and the more powerless you might feel individually.
Most of us have heard the quote by Mahatma Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” Perhaps we've even been inspired by it. It’s a beautiful sentiment and one that reminds us how everyone has the power to make an impact. Yet in this day and age, when everyone seems to be in conflict with each other, it has become difficult to understand how to make an impact without harming in the process.
At the same time, when we hear about so many global issues on the news, it can be difficult to see the connection between them or to choose which issue to pursue first. One can also fail to see that just one person can make any difference at all. Luckily, social change doesn’t have to happen instantly or on your own. By working together with others to create a positive impact on the world one day at a time, your actions and intentions make a great difference.
That's what we'll talk about in this session of the Open Diner. Everyone is welcome!
