Nearly 60 public beaches in Massachusetts are closed for swimming from unsafe levels of bacteria and posted with signs for "bacterial exceedence." Shuttered sands include several beaches in Chatham, Eastham and Bourne. We learned more about the closures from representatives from the Barnstable County Department of Health and Environment.
