(Airdate 10/13/22) Danny J. Bakewell, Sr., is a civil rights activist and entrepreneur. He is the owner of The Bakewell Company, which includes among its holdings the Los Angeles Sentinel newspaper. He has been Chairman of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) since 2009. Through the Los Angeles Sentinel, Bakewell created “Taste of Soul.” considered one of the largest street family festivals in Los Angeles. Bakewell and his wife, Aline Bakewell, Esq, founded the Sabriya’s Castle of Fun Foundation in memory of their youngest daughter who lost her life to leukemia. Bakewell is a three-time NAACP Image Award winner and a Southern Christian Leadership Martin Luther King, Jr Award recipient.
