Dr. Zinga A. Fraser - Author, lecturer, and the Director of the Shirley Chisholm Project on Brooklyn Women’s Activism. Before Kamala Harris, Hillary Clinton or even Barack Obama, Shirley Anita St. Hill Chisholm was both the first woman and the first African American to run for the nomination of a major party for President of the United States in 1972, 50 years ago. She was also the first Black woman to be elected to the United States Congress in 1968. Today marks what would’ve been the 98th birthday of the lauded political pioneer. She joins Tavis for a conversation about Shirley Chisholm’s legacy and her lasting impact.
