It’s not the thought that counts! It’s how we react to the thought that we just had.
As humans we have the tendency to attach to certain thoughts more so than others. While our automatic thinking goes about in our day to day we end up with some thoughts that get our attention.
After we hear them or see them in our mind, we often create a label for it. We judge it! We add meaning to it. We say, that was a bad thought!

In this episode, we are focusing on judging a message vs the messenger who delivered it. There are times that great messages come from people that we don’t think highly off.
The reason at times is because this person might have a specific weakness which we don’t agree with. under that light we stigmatise this person and define them to be that bad behaviour.
The problem with that is that it reflects backwards in us. It shows that we don’t have much tolerance for others and that means we don’t have much tolerance for ourselves.
We define others by a certain behaviour, that means that we define ourselves by certain behaviours as well. That can create great limits on how we perceive ourselves and others.

What is our life other than a collection of events in life. Moments stacked up together forming our past, all coming together in the now.
Time is a concept that has captured the imagination of many. Discussed to a great length both philosophically and scientifically. How often do we actually though speak about how we experience time.
Our perception of time is not static, it is changing throughout the day depending on what we are doing but most importantly on how we are feeling.

Making plans is part of our human nature, whether we are into productivity skills or not. We make plans. Plans that we hope will work out. When they don’t we get trapped in our ego. We begin to get tormented by our own expectations, by our own thoughts and emotions.
The problem arises from our expectations and how we think that everything will work out in our way. This is true even from the most pessimistic people amongst us.
When we have this skewed idea that things will either work or not work we enter the black and white thinking. The kind of thinking that keeps our emotional brain engaged and keeps us from moving forward.
The process of changing our attitude and perspective starts with understanding what is going on. It starts with noticing the shades of grey.
Join me in this episode and learn what you can do to move past the rut and into your power.

What’s the one thing that is constantly taking place within our mind and is affecting our emotions?
Our thoughts…
We voice our thoughts through talking to ourselves. That voice has certain qualities, that voice carries certain messages. That conversation, we call it self-talk or inner dialogue.
When it comes to our emotions, we need to understand that we have a choice. Yes, emotions and thoughts can pass through our mind very quickly. There is not much we can do about that event. But there is plenty that we can do afterwards.
In this episode we are going to talk about:
Our inner self at times is like a kid that fell and scraped its knees. Let’s give ourselves the gift of warmth, love and support. Encourage our self to move on, to forget, to smile. And finally to go out and play once again.

Our body is a complex system. It tries to maintain balance. One of the primary systems is the Automatic Nervous System (ANS).
Why talk about the ANS? Our ANS has control over the flight or fight response (The sympathetic system). The way we live, the kind of stimulus we have, activates the fight or flight far more often than any other time in the history. We run our system to the ground by living in a fast pace world full of demands and stressors. As a result our mind and body wear down.
We lose our well-being.
There is another system in place as a balancing factor to the fight or flight response. We call it the parasympathetic system where we get to rest, digest and heal. The keyword here for us is to heal.
If we want to improve our mental and physical health. Improve our well-being we got to find ways to switch off the alarms and allow ourselves to be.
What we need is to help ourselves find that space in time. That space to reflect to be calm and peaceful.
It's never been more crucial for us to make that time to calm our mind and body down. The healing then takes place automatically in all levels.

Imagine a life without emotions, a cold, dull and logical life. How boring would that be? Now imagine a life where emotions run your every action without any logic. How dangerous could that be?
In this episode we will talk about the emotional brain. We will understand the power of emotion. Emotion can help us experience and come in contact with the world. Emotions are a great blessing but they can also prove to be a threat. A threat to whom?
To ourselves and others – the ones you deeply love and care so much about.
Getting highly emotional inhibits our thinking brain, we stop being rational. We all have seen ourselves and others act with emotion. Doing things they wouldn’t normally do, saying things they never meant. There is a physiological reason behind this.
Next time you get too emotional remember to:
-Become Aware (yup, awareness shows up here again)
When I get too emotional, I rather wait and not react. I rather leave things and think them over when my brain is working. It is not because I am running away from things, it’s a conscious choice. I don’t like damaging myself or others in the process of emotional arousal. I am not always successful by the way…
Yes there will be times we need to be assertive and set our boundaries in the moment. There will be times that emotions get the best of us. But don’t allow the heat of the moment carry you away.
Remember to use emotion… but don’t let your emotions use you. Use emotion constructively and many doors will open for you.

Change and adaptability are crucial to our survival. Learning how to change on purpose can do wonders in your life.
When we talk about change work we often find ourselves getting excited and wanting to change. As our excitement deflates and our motivation gets drained we get the yo-yo effect. Back to square one where it all started.
Or you might enter the zone of fear, insecurity and doubt. Finding yourself avoiding the change you crave so badly. These emotions can keep you stuck for years.
Sounds familiar?
By listening to this episode you will learn about the power of acting small while being consistent.
Long lasting change starts a day at a time, by taking small actions that can propel us forward. When we do small changes we build that confidence in ourselves. We feel more supported and safe.
Waiting for the perfect moment is another way to avoid change. Only when X happens and only when the planets align then and only then I will be able to change.
The fallacy of postponing our happiness to a future event that never comes. It never comes because we haven’t learned to experience it today as a reality.
Acting small is about finding something very little that you can do towards the change that you want.
Find something small to do, get competent with it and then raise the bar.

In this episode we will dive into Carol Dweck's concept from her psychological research at Stanford University. It ties in nicely with the last episode on locus of control (Controlling what we can)
Fixed vs Growth Mindset
Depending on the task at hand we favour one mindset over the other. Our work will be about uncovering when we operate from a fixed mindset. How we can challenge that and use the growth mindset to our advantage.
Our beliefs and mindset can dictate our life. They are powerful. By challenging them we can build hope and reclaim our control to stir our life to a better direction.
Do a change ever so slightly and see how your confidence changes. See yourself grow before your very eyes. Do it once and then repeat it again and again. You build an avalanche of small tiny changes. When you add things up they have power. A grain of sand has tiny weight, but if you keep adding grains of sand you will soon have something very heavy.

Life comes with its ups and downs. When we begin to notice our day to day life, we see that there are moments that we feel in control and there are moments that we don't feel we have control. Our life can easily spiral down and get out of hand.
Controlling your life comes with the understanding of a basic truth. A truth that was taught by Epictetus almost 2000 years ago.
Some things are within our control, and some things are not.
An easy concept to grasp but harder to practice. The reason is that there are a lot of grey areas that we think we can't control but we actually can. There are also things we are trying to control that are beyond our control.
Join me on this episode and discover how you can unmask your ego. Find the truth behind the things you can truly control. Why?
To regain control of yourself and your life every single day. Remember to ask yourself, "What can I control?"

In this episode, we will go over some of the questions that arise when we want to practice being present.
We will cover one of the obstacles that we face whenever we want to make any kind of change. That obstacle is the ego, the rebel inside every single one of us.
Instead of picking a fight, we will learn to allow our ego to revolt while we stay grounded. Notice the rebel come and go. By allowing ourselves to rebel without rebelling we remove the influence of the ego.
The key is to observe what happens within, and to continue acting as we intended. That way our brain gets mixed messages. We scramble the rebel while allowing it to express itself but not allowing it to stop us from progressing.
Rebellion is not an enemy, it is an ally. The friction that gets created is a stepping stone to our progress. Without it we can't move forward.
The fact that we think and feel doesn't mean we have to obey. This is how we slowly begin to understand that we are not our thoughts nor emotions. A fundamental key to mindfulness. Emotions and thoughts are transient, they come and go.
It's like observing cars passing outside of your window. We are in the house, watching cars passing by. Our fallacy is that we tend to believe we are the cars.
Next time you want to meditate and you meet the rebel within you, say "Hi" from me, then act as quickly as you can.

In the previous two episodes we talked about the model of how we experience the world. The centre of those concentric circles was us. The person which we called the observer. In our experiential bubble of the world that is where everything takes place.
In this episode we can learn to use mindfulness and come in contact with the world. Mindfulness is about bringing our attention to the present moment without any judgement.
You may wonder, how does that help us come in contact with ourselves?
By looking outside we can learn a lot form nature. We shift our attention outside of ourselves. When we do so, all the noise within tends to slow down. All the internal chatter and emotions tend to ease off. Allowing us to be free from any internal interference. Learn to look at the world with curiosity and its wisdom will shine within you.
In the last episode, we talked about swapping unpleasant to pleasant experiences. One of my 3-5 things that put me in balance is to be mindful in nature – fully aware and curious.
In this episode we explore the importance of a mindfulness practice. You will get to listen a mini meditation. Practising allows us to be in touch with our environment. Despite focusing out there, we get to come in contact with ourselves.
The observer (You) begins to see the world more clearly, undistorted from emotions and thoughts. The lens that we view the world becomes clearer.
As we reclaim our inner balance, we get beauty, harmony, love. We get to be one with the world out there.
Take these learnings and head over to nature. In there find your connection with the world. Observe and notice what happens as you find a connection with yourself.
This is the external practice of mindfulness. Focusing outwards. In a different episode we will talk about being mindful of what happens within.

Understanding how we experience the world is not enough for us to be able to navigate it successfully. We have to use the model to our benefit.
Can we change how we experience the world? Is there a deliberate way of doing this. A way that doesn’t leave things to chance.
Yes, there is. With questions.
Questions are powerful. Questions help us shift our attention and direct our mind. We get a compass that we can use to navigate our world.
By following the questions we start to be deliberate on how we experience the world. We begin to design pleasurable thoughts and emotions. As an effect how we feel about others and ourselves changes. How we view the world changes.
Download the questions pdf before listening to the new episode.
It lists the question in a clear way making it easier for you to craft your experience of the world.
