Navigating the Network with Digital Natives

Our guest Kevin Bower is from Lancaster PA and the father of six children. He has 20 years of teaching experience and is currently a sixth-grade teacher in the Hempfield School District. Since 2010, Mr. Bower has been a part-time instructor at his alma mater, Millersville University, where he teaches instructional technology to preservice and practicing teachers. Mr. Bower is also an educational consultant for the Source for Learning and TeachersFirst.com. He moderates OK2Ask professional development sessions and a bi-weekly Twitter chat and assists teachers with integrating MySciLife into their science classroom.

The Penn Manor School District awarded him the Elementary Educator of the Year in 2010, and in 2012 he was the keynote speaker at the IU13 Elementary Technology Conference. Mr. Bower has presented nationally, and various publications have cited his teaching practices. He recently published a collaborative article on using social learning to make real-world connections in science for Science Scope magazine. His research interests focus on using technology to meet the needs of students with diverse abilities.

Kevin will share how he leverages social media in his classroom with his students.
