I believe that God doesn’t mind at all if we take comfort and rest from His word, rather than from hypnotic quasi-spiritual mindfulness techniques, perhaps of dubious origin. So I read you the scriptures to music in a sleepymanner, and hope that you find some rest here, and that God might use this time to bless you as only He is able.
So, breathe slowly for a bit, and let your body release any tension left there from your busy day. Curl up and get comfy, as I read episode 103 of Sleepy Scriptures.

My name is Steve and I’m your host and narrator for the Sleepy Scriptures Podcast.
If you have trouble falling asleep at night, or if you find yourself awake in the middle of the night and can’t get back to sleep, there are many podcasts available that are designed to lull you into that elusive state of slumber. I often resorted to these midnight tales to get to sleep myself.
And then it occurred to me. Why not use that time to listen to readings of the Bible as I fall asleep?
I’ve been publishing the Search The Bible website since 2008, and I email a Daily Bible Verse to tens of thousands every day, so I thought it would be a fitting extension of my humble ministry if I gave you the option of listening to my scripture readings as a podcast and sleep-aid.
There’s something about the lyrical cadence of King James English that helps us relax, and what better words to hear at the close of your busy day than those of God? He wants you to hear His word, and He knows you’re tired.
I started with Sleepy Psalms, where I’ve learned something about recording techniques, what works and what doesn’t, especially what doesn’t! And now I’m ready to get serious with Sleepy Scriptures.
Each Sleepy Scriptures episode will comprise Old and New Testament chapters, as well as selections from the Psalms and Proverbs.
As I publish each episode I’ll post a link and transcript here, and my goal is to get us through the entire Bible. There will be 365 episodes that will align with a one-year Bible approach, but I’m not kidding myself about getting it done in one year. I’ll record new episodes as often as I can.
So stay tuned for the first installment, coming very soon.
Blessings,
Steve.
