This sermon explores the Christian life as a race, drawing a parallel to a near-miss at the 1959 Isle of Man TT motorcycle races. We need to "look before we leap" just like rider Keith Heckles, but more importantly, to fix our gaze on Jesus throughout the race.

The Bible says in Hebrews 12:1-2 to run with endurance, focusing on Jesus. Jesus endured the cross for us, and by looking to Him, we find strength and purpose. Imagine being mesmerized by a fire – that's how we should be with Jesus!

Running with our eyes on Jesus is important because:

  1. He is God and deserves our worship.

  2. He has the best plan for our lives, even when it's difficult.

This race is a marathon, not a sprint. God calls us to a life of following Him, not just dipping in and out. Just like enjoying a delicious meal, we should fully embrace the life Jesus offers – a life filled with love, joy, peace, and purpose.

Is your gaze fixed on Jesus?

Is Sunday just another day of the week? In this sermon from our "Make Disciples" series, Chris Staples argues that Sunday holds special significance for Christians.

He dives into three key reasons why gathering together on Sundays is crucial for our spiritual growth and for making disciples.

  1. The Power of Jesus is Present:

The Bible reminds us that when we come together in Jesus' name, his power is present (1 Corinthians 5:4). This creates an atmosphere where we can experience God's healing, miracles through the Holy Spirit's gifts (1 Corinthians 12:7-11), and be built up in our faith (1 Corinthians chapters 7-11).

  1. Sundays Offer Opportunities for Discipleship:

Sunday gatherings allow us to learn from one another (1 Corinthians 11:1) and function as the body of Christ, each part contributing its unique gifts (1 Corinthians 12:27). We can encourage one another in our walk with Christ (Colossians 3:16), be equipped through God's word (2 Timothy 3:16), and be challenged to hold fast to the faith (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

  1. Sundays Can Be a Place to Find Faith:

Our gatherings can be a powerful witness for those seeking Jesus. The open and welcoming atmosphere (1 Corinthians 14:24-25) combined with the encouragement and support we offer (Hebrews 10:24-25) can create a space where people can encounter God's love and choose to follow him.

Don't underestimate the power of Sundays! Listen to this episode and discover how actively participating in your church community can fuel your faith journey and empower you to make disciples for Christ.

In this episode of the "Make Disciples" series, Chris Staples dives into the exciting concept of building a Jesus culture church. He takes inspiration from Matthew 28:18-20, the Great Commission, and Philemon's letter to explore three key pillars of creating a community centred around Jesus and his teachings.

  1. See Potential in Everyone:

Staples reminds us that Jesus saw potential in everyone, like the fishermen Peter and Andrew he called to be his disciples. He encourages us to follow suit, recognizing the unique gifts and abilities within each member of our church community.

  1. Give Ourselves:

Building a Jesus culture church requires sacrifice and dedication. Staples emphasizes the importance of following Christ's example and giving ourselves wholeheartedly to serving others, just as Paul did for Onesimus in the book of Philemon.

  1. Live in the Power of the Holy Spirit:

True transformation comes through the power of the Holy Spirit. Staples draws from Acts 1 and Romans 8 to underscore the importance of being led by the Spirit, putting to death the desires of the flesh, and embracing the truth that sets us free.

This episode will challenge and inspire you to:

  • Recognize the potential within others in your church community.

  • Consider how you can personally contribute to building a Jesus culture.

  • Seek the power of the Holy Spirit to guide you in your walk of faith.

In this first episode of the "Make Disciples" series, Adrian Porter tackles the big question: "What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus?" He explores five key conditions that Jesus himself laid out in the Gospels:

  1. Love for one another: As John 13:34-35 states, our love for each other is a hallmark of being Jesus' disciples. This love should be sacrificial and unconditional, just as Jesus loved us.

  2. Rooted in God's word: John 8:31-32 tells us that true disciples abide in Jesus' word, seeking truth and freedom through his teachings. Joshua 1:8 further emphasizes the importance of meditating on God's word day and night for success and prosperity.

  3. Denying yourself: Taking up your cross and following Jesus requires self-denial, as Luke 9:23-24 and Philippians 3:7-8 make clear. It's about prioritizing Christ above all else, even our own desires and comforts.

  4. Putting Jesus first: Luke 14:25-26 challenges us to put Jesus above even our closest family and even our own lives. This doesn't mean hating them, but rather recognizing that our ultimate loyalty belongs to Christ.

  5. Taking up your own cross: Following Jesus isn't always easy. It often involves sacrifice and hardship, as Luke 14:27 and Matthew 16:25-26 remind us. But ultimately, true discipleship leads to finding our lives in Christ.

Porter concludes by inviting listeners to reflect on these questions:

  1. What does it mean to you to be a disciple of Jesus?

  2. How are you living out the five conditions mentioned in the sermon?

  3. What resources can help you get more rooted in God's word?

This sermon is a thought-provoking and challenging start to the "Making Disciples" series. It's sure to inspire you to examine your own walk with Christ and consider how you can grow as a disciple.

Are you in the fight? We are all in a spiritual battle, and we need to be sold out for the fight of faith. In this sermon, Adrian Porter discusses the importance of fighting from a position of victory, fighting to the end, and contending for the faith.

Porter begins by looking at 1 Timothy 6:12, which tells us to fight the good fight of the faith. He reminds us that we are not wrestling against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil. He also points out that we are fighting from a position of victory, because Jesus has already defeated Satan and sin on the cross.

Porter then goes on to discuss the importance of fighting to the end. He reminds us that the devil will never give up trying to tempt us and lead us astray. But we can persevere in the fight, because we know that God is with us and that he will give us the strength to overcome.

Finally, Porter talks about the importance of contending for the faith. He reminds us that we are called to defend the truth of the gospel and to share it with others. He also points out that we need to be on guard against false teachings and false prophets.

This sermon is a powerful reminder that we are all in a spiritual battle. But we can be victorious, if we are sold out for the fight of faith. If you are looking for a message that will encourage you to stand up for what is right and to fight for the truth, then I encourage you to listen to this sermon.

MacRae then goes on to discuss five key aspects of a radical life:

  1. Sold out to run. This means living a life of purpose and direction, and not being side-tracked by distractions.

  2. Sold out to listen selectively. This means being careful about what we listen to and being discerning about the voices that we allow to influence our lives.

  3. Sold out for peace. This means being peacemakers in a world that is often full of conflict.

  4. Sold out for reconciliation. This means working to restore relationships that have been broken.

  5. Sold out for devotion, honour, living in the light, renewing of our minds, and choosing to forgive. These are all key aspects of a life that is pleasing to God.

MacRae concludes by encouraging us to be sold out to a radical life. He reminds us that a radical life is not easy, but it is a life that is worth living.

In this sermon, Chris Staples shares on the importance of being sold out for unity without anger. He begins by talking about the issues with anger, including how it can lead to fixed opposition, limit God's blessing, and put our healing at risk. He then goes on to discuss four ways to avoid anger:

  1. Overlook offense. This means choosing to forgive and forget when someone hurts us.

  2. Cover with love. This means responding to anger with love, even when it is difficult.

  3. Correct carefully with a pure heart. When we need to correct someone, we should do it in a way that is loving and constructive.

  4. Consider others first. We should always put the needs of others above our own.

Staples concludes by encouraging us to be sold out for unity without anger. He reminds us that the church is called to be a unified body, and that anger can only divide us. He also points out that anger is a sign that we are not trusting God to deal with our problems.

If you are looking for a sermon that will encourage you to be sold out for unity without anger, then I encourage you to listen to this one. It is a powerful message that will challenge you and help you to grow in your faith.

Chris Staples asks if Jesus is a liar or Lord in his sermon on choices. He begins by sharing Matthew 16:13-17, where Jesus asks his disciples who they think he is. Peter answers correctly, saying that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus then tells Peter that he is blessed because he has received this revelation from God.

Staples then goes on to share John 14:6, where Jesus says that he is the way, the truth, and the life. He says that no one comes to the Father except through him. This means that Jesus is the only way to salvation.

Next, Staples shares Matthew 12:30, where Jesus says that whoever is not with him is against him. He says that whoever does not gather with him scatters. This means that there is no middle ground when it comes to Jesus. Either we are for him or we are against him.

Finally, Staples shares Romans 10:9 and John 10:28. Romans 10:9 says that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised him from the dead, we will be saved. John 10:28 says that Jesus gives us eternal life, and that no one will snatch us out of his hand.

Staples concludes by saying that we must choose whether or not we believe in Jesus. If we believe in him, then we must confess him as Lord and follow him. There is no other way to salvation.

This is a powerful message that challenges us to make a choice about who Jesus is. Is he a liar, or is he Lord? If we believe that he is Lord, then we must live our lives accordingly.

In this sermon, Adrian Porter shares on the importance of being sold out for the Word of God. He begins by looking at 2 Timothy 3:16, which tells us that all Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. He then goes on to discuss four key points:

  1. All Scripture is inspired by God. This means that the Bible is not just a human book, but it is the authoritative Word of God. We can trust that everything in the Bible is true and that it is relevant to our lives today.

  2. Sold out to its teaching. We should not just read the Bible, but we should also put its teachings into practice in our lives. This means obeying God's commands, following his example, and living according to his will.

  3. Sold out for reproof and correction. The Bible is not just a book of comfort and encouragement. It is also a book that rebukes and corrects us. We should be willing to allow the Word of God to speak to us and to change us.

  4. Sold out for training in righteousness. The Bible is a training manual for living a righteous life. It teaches us how to live in a way that is pleasing to God and how to be a good witness for him in the world.

Porter concludes by encouraging us to be sold out for the Word of God. He reminds us that the Bible is the best way to learn about God and his will for our lives. He also points out that the Bible is the only source of truth and wisdom that we can rely on in a world that is full of deception and confusion.

If you are looking for a sermon that will encourage you to be sold out for the Word of God, then I encourage you to listen to this one. It is a powerful message that will challenge you and help you to grow in your faith.

In this week's sermon on our church podcast, we are blessed to have Adrian Porter share a poignant message in our ongoing series, "Miracle Worker." The focus of this episode is on "Raised from the Dead," a topic that delves into the pain of loss and grief, its individual impact, and the hope of new life for all who belong to Christ.

Adrian begins by reminding us that as humans, we invest so much effort into the life we are presently living, but we must remember that our time on this Earth is temporary, and we are merely passing through. Our faith lies in knowing that Jesus is ever-present in our lives, and just one touch of the King can transform everything.

Drawing inspiration from Luke 7:11-17, Adrian reflects on the compassionate nature of Jesus as demonstrated when He encountered a grieving widow who had lost her only son. This biblical account reminds us that God deeply cares about our grief and sorrows. Death was not part of God's original plan; it was the entry of sin that changed everything. Satan, the master of deception, questions and undermines God's rules, but Adrian emphasizes how sin leads to death, and it cannot coexist in the presence of a holy God.

Throughout the sermon, Adrian shares his own personal experiences with the painful loss of loved ones, making the message all the more powerful and moving. His vulnerability in sharing these moments of grief underscores the importance of finding comfort in God's compassion and the hope of new life in Christ.

Join us this week as we listen to Adrian Porter's heartfelt sermon, reflecting on the miracle of being "Raised from the Dead." Let us be inspired to embrace the compassion and love of God in times of sorrow and to hold on to the assurance that Jesus brings new life to all who believe in Him.

May this message encourage and strengthen your faith, reminding you that, though we may face trials and loss in this world, we have a Saviour who conquered death itself and offers us the promise of eternal life.

God bless you all.

In this sermon, Stuart Nelson explores the theme of supernatural provision in the life of Jesus. He begins by looking at the story of Jesus feeding the 5,000, in which Jesus miraculously provides enough food for a crowd of people who had been following him for several days. Nelson then goes on to discuss the importance of having a humble reaction to being blessed by God. He points out that the disciples were initially hesitant to accept Jesus' offer to provide them with food, but they eventually came to understand that his provision was a sign of his love and care for them. Finally, Nelson talks about how Jesus equips the called to do his work. He points out that Jesus did not just provide for the disciples' physical needs, but he also equipped them with the spiritual gifts and abilities they needed to carry out his ministry.

This sermon is a reminder that God is always willing to provide for us, both in our physical and spiritual needs. It is also a reminder that we should be humble and grateful when God blesses us. If you are looking for a sermon that will encourage you and challenge you to trust in God's provision, then I encourage you to listen to this one.
