On this episode of the Film Sessions Podcast, we are excited to feature Lauren Hammersley:

“I am Lauren, I'm from a small town in Suffolk and I am currently studying an MA in animation at the Royal College of Art! My undergrad was at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham and was also in animation. During my time in my undergrad I got to explore a variety of animation techniques and forms and found myself drawn to the experimental side of animation and film making. I tend to take an autoethnographical approach to my work, often attempting to find new ways to discuss topics that personally affect me, usually featuring around mental health. I think it's an important topic to discuss and I want to make people feel and understand other's suffering or struggles through my films; in attempting to do this, my films tend to focus on a specific section of mental health, with the goal in mind of creating a better understanding for those that haven't experienced it before. I love playing with different materials however my current graduation project is a 2D narrative which is something I've never really done before but I am enjoying the challenge! I also like to make people smile and hope that some of my more upbeat and happier pieces of work will do that and be a distraction from how harsh the real world can be.”
