Holocaust Remembrance Day begins this  Wednesday evening. On Sunday, May 1 at 3:00, The Gloucester Meeting House and Temple Achavat Achim will host a  special event to honor this time.  Holocaust Remembrance Project Co-Chairs Susan Quateman and Amy Farber talk to Heather Atwood about a special commissioned work entitled “The Grip of Evil, The Endurance of Hope” by composer Leslie Steinweiss. 

Mr. Steinweiss talks about the methods and resources he used to create this dramatic piece, including the story of Susan Quateman’s grandmother.  Quateman’s grandmother was betrayed by her former husband’s second wife, and taken from her children to Auschwitz, where she committed suicide.
