The earliest written records we have show that for a very long time, people have believed that we have souls or spirits in us that are able to survive death. Most all world religions still believe this to be true. But things are changing. Recent brain research indicates that the perception that we have of souls is really just an illusion. Most philosophers today have made a big switch away from the belief in souls. Even some theologians are starting to cast doubt on the idea of immortal souls. Is it time to take another look?
