What makes you scared?

For me, it’s always been public speaking.

I can sit behind a keyboard all day and write, but the idea of standing up in front of a group of strangers terrifies me.

My mouth goes dry.

My stomach lurches.

My palms sweat.

But I find it’s important to push yourself, especially when you know the fear is irrational.

I’ve taught hundreds of students and played in bands.

I record regular videos and podcasts.

But the fear still nags me every time.

But I’m determined to keep doing this.

I need to do this.

Our brains lie to us all the time about the things we should fear and avoid.

Public speaking isn’t one them.
