I have been in a space of allowing myself to be who I am at my core and accepting what is…

its uncomfortable bc truth be told I haven’t always appreciated myself

Ive lived in this “judging mode” that he speaks of for a majority of my life…

It is or at least was the core of who I am…

You see I was raised from birth in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints

It was a beautiful experience I found a deep connection with God from a very young age

But I was also taught that in order to make it back to god again I needed to be worthy and in order to be worthy I must follow these set of guidelines …especially if I desire to enter the temple let alone live with god again

Like keeping the word of wisdom which means no alcohol. Tobacco, tea and coffee & being Morally clean

I recently attended church with my mother and father and couldn’t help but witness some things that just….didnt feel right

I was walking down the hall to use the restroom and passed by the children in Sunday school all singing a song that I also grew up singing called follow the prophet and the chorus goes like this…

Follow the prophet don’t go astray

Follow the prophet

Follow the prophet

Follow the prophet he knows the way

as a 26 year old woman and new mother of just 8 weeks...

Witnessing these beautiful children ages 5-8 sing this song with such conviction just didn’t sit right with me…

How could they possibly understand the meaning of this song?

It is one thing to consciously choose to be a part of an organization like this and a whole other thing to just be born and raised into it…

And I speak from personal experience as I was this child myself…

Ive fought to find my worthiness

Because I deserve to be here

I am good enough just as I am

I am important

I matter

And so do you!

We are not separate

We are one with the universe

All that is needed resides right within us

Truth flows to you and me

And life is always good
