We are talking with another amazing guest today on the show, Eliza McBride LPCA. Eliza identifies as a first-generation Filipina-American. Eliza is a therapist in private practice who works primarily with clients who are first and second generation Asian Pacific Islander, particularly Southeast Asian and Filipino communities. Eliza provides trauma-informed and culturally-responsive therapy for individuals in Oregon and is trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy and EMDR. She talks with us about “parts” that show up for her and her clients including perfectionism and caretaking. Eliza also discusses factors that have shaped her journey into becoming a private practice business owner as well as juggling her work and parenting roles. We also explore how play can show up in our work and what it feels like when your job is also your passion. Eliza hopes to destigmatize seeking mental health services in API communities, especially for issues related to perfectionism, the "model minority myth," parentification, and generational trauma. In addition to working as a professional counselor, Eliza is also a mom to an active toddler who helps to keep her grounded and find joy in everyday living.

On a side note, we had some technical difficulties with sound during this episode, but we hope you enjoy it anyway!
