Gore, score, and direction - those are the highlights and they are done extremely well. In fact, you could make this a silent film and that score would carry the entire movie. It was ridiculously good. And the direction - excellent. Mario Bava is a master. I also mentioned gore, well, there is plenty of that as well and the effects are great. The story is solid and it does keep you guessing up until the end. A bit confusing at times but it doesn't detract from the movie. I can see why this movie has been copied and imitated by so many that were released after it. Thumbs up. Highly recommended if you like movies like this.
