We all know what it's like to groan; to make some long, low and slow inarticulate sound that expresses our sadness, pain, despair or even something we’re just genuinely unhappy with. What if our groans are connected to our longings? And that through those longings,
God wants to lead us to exactly what he's given to meet them: himself. In Jesus’ 4th I AM statement, he says, “I AM the good shepherd” (Jn. 10:11). And we, like the people in Jesus’ day and the children of Israel under Pharoah, are groaning--longing-- for a Good Shepherd, one who can truly bring us into abundant life.
