Just weeks after axing 1000 bus services, Auckland Transport is hoping to get the wheels turning on new recruits.

It's hosting its first ever careers day on Saturday in a bid to entice new bus drivers and ferry skippers.

It says hundreds of jobs are on offer, and attractive ones too, after that $61 million pay packet for bus driver salaries just weeks ago.
