New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi is copping flack for missing a pretty blatant opportunity for diversity in his newest series.

His remake of cult movie Time Bandits - which centres on a man who finds himself in the company of a group of little people - has not cast anyone of shorter stature.

Actress Abbie Purvis, whose granddad starred in the original, has taken to social media to question why another opportunity has been taken from her community - and has a special appeal to Taika himself!
