The re-introduction of the Skilled Migrant Category is a desperate and necessary attempt to attract workers back to New Zealand to fill dire workplace shortages.
But given the backlog of visa applications already piling up on Immigration New Zealand’s desk, National’s not convinced they’ll be able to cope with the expected influx of migrants.
